More TET in the peaks. Hopefully going to have a go at loading her up for camping and get some decent tyres on it and try some long weekends going north on the TET.

Managed to squeeze in a ride yesterday. . Decided to go up the Snake. 2mph was my new top speed climbing up Embarassed but it was good fun down the other side; part throttle and happily at 50mph. Laughing Actually great fun in the twisty bits - who says you need sophisticated suspension to have fun?! Fingers were absolutely frozen though - it was only a couple of degrees above freezing ad no heated grips or handguards on that bike!

Sunday's "ride" was Roughley's Toy Run in Stockport. Quite good fun and a good turnout too. TDecorated it for the occasion. Yes, look a bit like a plonker but it's all for charity. Thumbs Up

Ahh that old chestnut 'it's for charity'. Wake up.

Charities are greedy greedy business models. Look at the CEO Cancer research UK he takes more than the PM.

I wouldn't give 'charity' the steam off my shit no matter how big or small they are there's one thing you can guarantee a large % of the money ends up in the people's pocket who are running the shit show.

Go and read about how this one works and then crawl back under your miserable rock.

Pillock.

Please get your facts right before you comment. I can't speak for national charities as I don't know how they operate, this charity however is bone fide and this toy run, along with other events associated, brings genuine benefit to a worthy cause.

Charity should be local and immediate. Anything else is just volunteering money to pay bean counters' wages.

Had to get out yesterday...
Nice little 50 mile round trip to nowhere in particular..but did stop off on the hills overlooking Folkestone, and again further long the coast.
No real rain but threatening drizzle occassionally, which was fine.

30ish miles.
Cold & bright , but okay.
Nice to blow the cobwebs out of my head & bike.

No pictures of the bike itself (I was on the Crossrunner), but a very very cold start (complete with sections of unavoidable sheet ice several times) was rewarded by an epic sunrise over the Hope valley. Cool Followed by a cooked brekkie and multiple coffees at the Yondermann.

Win Hill just before dawn:

The Mam Tor Road (used to be the main road until repeat landslips rendered the road useless in late 70s, so it was abandoned. Hopefully the Snake Pass doesn't suffer the same fate!

I thought there would be a lot more post this weekend, and maybe there will, but I too managed to get out.

Original plan was to do a couple of hours see where I ended up and then home. Turned out to take 7 hours 200 miles and two tanks of fuel.

Went along the south coast heading west A259 traffic was fine for a hour or two then people got up and took to the roads (seeing as it was a nice sunny day) it turned to shite, so hung a right up to Royal Tunbridge Wells, took a few unknown roads to god knows where, went through tonbridge, then Maidstone, top of Bluebell Hill, Herne Bay, Ramsgate, and Sandwich.

Was bloody brilliant. Bit windy & cold when stopped, but no big deal, christ it's still February.... Saw some beautiful scenery, & rode some lovely country roads.

One thing I did notice was when filtering through the busy rodes/streets, is that you lose track of where you are. I found it difficult to retrace my route on Gmaps, as I was too busy concentrating of staying alive.

The sun was out and a few hours of opportunity presented itself, so I headed out today, initially across Cheshire then up over the Cat & Fiddle, through Buxton and down to Whaley Bridge. Some nice roads but they were actually white with salt, so much so I didn't have complete faith in them. In reality probably no meaningful effect, but in my head it looked like it would be like riding on a sand-covered road. Still, it was good to get out. Pic taken on the descent down into Buxton (naff sun position to get the best contrast, not helped by using an 11 year old camera which is more portable than the dSLR but not the best at resolving tricky lighting, but hey ho).

Dead boring commute stuff.

Work and back. Bone chilling cold this morning at 6am ( -2 ) but glorious conditions aside from that. Same coming home but 20 degrees warmer Very Happy

Will be using it the rest of the week - be rude not to. In fact i'll be using it for as long as the weather holds for seeing as it's the perfect temperature for people who hate riding in the heat of summer.

Bonus marks for not forgetting how to ride over the winter.

The small human requested a "long bike ride". We duly obliged and took the '91 out for a spin to a couple of local places followed by the Ponderosa.
