Recently moved house, so updated the V5s on my vehicles to match the new address. Got the new V5s in the post no problem. Couple of weeks later I get a snotty letter from them telling me that the bike I've just bought isn't tax'd or SORN'd and I'm breaking the law .... WTAF??
They didn't just update the address on the bike, they've registered myself as a new keeper which means my bike was automatically untaxed. Fortunately it's been sat in a garage and not used in that period, but I could have just as easily been riding it around illegally and likely to get it impounded for not having paid the man ....
Waiting to see what happens with the complaint letter but I don't expect I'll even get a reply TBH. ____________________ DILLIGAF |

So, you are now the 'new owner' of the motorbike you already had? Interesting...
I wonder if 'previous owners' went up by 1? ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Certain services are still post only. And worse, cheque or postal order! In the 21th Century I wonder whether the online services have only been implemented under duress Automation = less humans required therefore bad (in the union's eyes.)
I've noticed when getting a fresh V5 (e.g. NOVA + dating letter) they take >3 weeks to cash the cheque after the V5 has been issued. I wonder what would happened if everyone formed a "dirty protest" of cancelling cheques, wait for a threatening letter and then pay it. Fuck them about as much as possible. Yes, in the short term it'll make things worse but maybe it'll pile on the pressure to reform.

Historically, it was DVLA policy to never admit they had ever made an error of any sort under any circumstances. And that any mistakes were the fault of the complaining party, or in extreme circumstances, the fault of reality, for not being in line with the DVLA.
Unless things have changed drastically at the DVLA, I'd call that a win to be honest. ____________________ Current - '94 VFR750FR, '00 VFR800FI Previous - '10 Street Triple R, '92 MZ ETZ301, '05 TTR250, NSR125R, KMX125, "Honda" Win (chinese copy of an old Honda design with a C90 engine)
