Hi All,

A bit of advice please and I am sure to many it will seem a bit daft.

I've had an ER6n since new its a 2008 and I use it to commute on.

I've gone through about 4 exhausts since new, I ride pretty much all year round apart from snow/ice etc. Each exhaust replacement has been with a stock exhaust i.e. Kawasaki code 18091/A .

I've had a look on ebay and I can't see a decent second hand one and a replacement new is about £600.

This is too much. A quick google search gives me options.

I've seen a Black Widow Exhaust , which is remarkably cheap.

Its obviously a different mount and I presume looking at the picture all the little mounting things etc, will hold it in place.

But I am concerned about connecting it to my downpipes and the oxygen sensor. Do I need some sort of oxygen sensor eliminator.

When i've changed the stock exhaust before , i've needed to buy a gasket muffler this being kawasaki code 18140 . Which now look difficult to get hold of. (but it simply a crush device, which creates a seal, so perhaps there is another alternative).

This is the exhaust I am interested in.

This is the schematics

Any advice greatly appreciated. Cool Very Happy

Hi

Looking at the black widow set up it comes with the link pipe which has the socket for the oxygen sensor. It also looks like the joints are clamp fit so I would think a smear of exhaust paste should be enough around the pipe them clamp the pipe over it.

Looks like they are out of stock, however, if you search by category, they have a lot of their exhaust gaskets listed by dimension if you have the time to trawl through them.

Otherwise, plumbers silicone for the win.

Or ask Black Widow if they can supply one?

O2 eliminators are just a resistor in a "stock" connector. If you can't find one online (they're usually about 5-10 quid), you can use the connector off the stock O2 sensor and wire in a resistor of about 300 ohm (higher is ok too). Chances are you'll find someone selling them on ebay.

As mentioned though, it looks like it has the bung for the stock sensor on the pipe anyway.

Quite amazed the stock exhuasts are going that fast, the full system or just the silencer?

Delkevic also have fairly cheap silencer offerings.

The downpipes went at 23 months and 3 weeks, which was fantastic as they were still under warranty.

But the muffler is now the fourth or fifth, the bike has done about 50K.

Sometimes the ends break (this is what happened last year and i've bodged it with an exhaust bandage), othertimes the stock exhaust has developed a tweeting noise and loss of power.

Thanks for that Tdibs, I've bought that one and its coming Monday, I prefer it being stainless steel rather than black.

Sounds like you need some ceramic coating on the pipes. And not riding across the Dead Sea to commute Laughing
