Anyone know how to get rid of the speed limiter (70mph) on a renault traffic van without it costing the earth?

The speed limiter will be built in to the ecu, so would have to be mapped out, to do it properly. The speed sensor will read off one of the ABS rings, it might be possible to disconnect the appropriate wheel sensor to disable it - but you will have ABS light on all the time and it might well go into limp home mode.

As its a factory function I reckon
You'll need something like an Autel ms908/pro for £1500 ish
or a Renault 'clip' interface box plus leads/laptop/software £££'s
or
Pay a guy who already has and knows how to use this kit for probably a lot less.
As it only takes a few minutes to disable the limiter , £50 at a guess, more for a remap if you want moar powah.

edit:
this vid shows a guy with Autel Maxisys and Clip units and uses the clip to disable the speed limiter in less than 7 minutes

Ask at your local dealer, previous posts Googled suggest that certain companies added this limiter from new, but is removed at dealers for under £100.
"Renault dealer tell me they can remove the speed limit in a few minutes at a cost of £59 inc VAT."
