Whats a good and reasonable priced power supply for multiple effects pedals. I have a cheap wall wart type power supply using a daisy chain of output plugs but more than a couple of pedals and I get a lot of noise. This is supposedly because of ground loop problems and to eliminate this needs a supply where each power outlet is isolated from the others. Of course, go looking for these supply's amd they're over a hundred quid.

They are money because, as you've seen, you add more things to a loop, you use more power, more noise is made.

My 7 pedal pedalboard when I was gigging had 2 plugs, 1 doing the 3 right most ones and 1 doing the left 4, it wasn't cheap but it wasn't through the roof. Do you really need them all at once as I went down to no pedals after finding axe FX, but yeah back when I was gigging, multiple plugs were the way forward for me.

Yes, seperate transformers for each plug eliminates ground loop noise but its a lot of clutter. I'd like to build a board with a single power supply.

I've got t-rex fuel tank. Works pretty well and it wasn't too pricey, I think I've paid around £80 a couple of years ago.
I'm sure that you can find one under £100 on Andertons or GAK.

I had a look but the T-rex is only isolated between the different voltages.

I had a practice amp with effects built in. It was obviously fine with a backing track via Bluetooth but line-in from my PC was atrocious! I ended up getting a cheapo audio isolator from Amazon.

Is it a problem that just gets steadily worse or is there a particular pedal that introduces the noise? Maybe you could get away with just two PSUs Thinking

A couple of pedals and its very noticeable. Apart from my Wah pedal all my pdeals are digital and theyre apparently the worst for ground loop problems as they all have an internal clock pulse which reverberates through the ground, pile up a few of these pulses all at a slightly different nThs of a second rate and your in prog-rock ufo sounds territory. I could theoretically buy a supply for each pedal or for pairs of pedals but what a faff finding which ones work ok together. Im curious about making my own supply though as i have some transistor voltage controllers which could be mounted on a 12v line then adjusted to step down to 9v but isolated from easch other. Its getting the right isolating transformers which is tricky as I can only find aidio isolaters.

Use the same pwr socket for amp and pedals.

See if a dimmer is the culprit.

Or only use batteries.

Suck it up and buy a quality power supply.

All of that^^

Earth loops are caused by small potential differences (voltages) between power earths. Star point or single source earthing is the solution.

If you're picking up clock type pulses then the source shouldn't be a pedal - it'll be something else in the vicinity. Don't cheap out on signal leads either.

I did wonder if the pseudo-isolating supplys use a star earth. Probably something like a big toroidal transformer with 9v, 12v, 18v secondaries the multiple outputs of which are star grounded with heaps of smoothing capacitors.

Edit- The suckitup option looks increasingly likely but the problem with music equipment is its one of those potentially never ending trails of increasing cash outlay.

Not necessarily so, bought a Cioks power supply almost 15 years ago and it's still running.
Does AC DC 9v 12v

How do you make your guitar more beautiful? Some people add some stickers and maybe paint their guitars in a special way, but what do you do? I am really interested.
I am now looking for new accessories for a guitar, and it would be cool to know what others do to decorate their guitars. I want to buy a decorated guitar kill switch and a few cool carbon fiber guitar picks. But I would also like to decorate the whole body of my guitar somehow, and I cannot think of any proper design yet.
I also need to be careful not to harm any important guitar parts.
