I skim-read that expecting to see something revolutionary, like absurd power or super lightweight . . . but no, it all seems a bit meh. Perhaps what you'd expect in a £20k electric bike. But £90k. Shocked How on earth are they justifying it?!

I'm guessing 40k for the bike, 25k for the jacket with a vibrator built in, and the rest on a flashy helmet. Laughing

For those who like their gadgets and gizmos, the Arc Vector features the ‘human machine interface’ with a jacket containing haptic feedback warnings, plus a heads-up display in the supplied helmet ..

..and thus 'I'm out'.

.. no I was out when the price crept over 1500 quid. My notional limit for all such toys.

It looks like Alien - i'd half expect to turn the key and the headlight open up, and a smaller version of the headlight pop out on a stalk

To be fair, I'd pay for that.

Arc Origin represents a game-changing advance in intelligent technology. Creating a more immersive ride experience. Utilising High-definition Audio transducers embedded in Knox armour, Arc Origin communicates with the rider using haptic feedback wirelessly. Controlled via the bikes on-board vehicle control unit, the transducers are able to provide real-time advanced rider assistance systems (ARAS) using the on-board sensors, cameras and radar etc. This feedback may vibrate to alert of a potential hazard, provide dynamic performance-based feedback, or enhance the thrilling sensation when on a stimulating ride

There are 3 modes to the system:

Urban Mode
Focused on safety. Alerting the rider to dangers such as vehicles in their blind spot with a moving tap, working it’s way intuitively up the riders back as the hazard gets closer, or full body notification for a forward collision warning.

Sports Mode
Rider feedback on the bike’s dynamic position, using G-Force related data from the on bike sensors to provide a graduated level of feedback. This tells the rider how close to machine is to the limit. The harder you brake the more feedback you receive.

Euphoric Mode
For the thrill of the moment. This allows the rider to play music through the haptics while riding, simulating the bass through the haptic transducers. This technology has been refined from the entertainment world.

It sounds like it would quickly get annoying.

For the price, it had better come with a personal arse wiper too.

I would be surprised if a serious bike enthusiast with the means and inclination to spend 90/100k on a bike would choose the Arc electric bike over something like a Ducati Superlegerra - unless they are so wealthy they can have both.

Arc say their order books are looking healthy, so maybe there is enough money and enthusiasm sloshing around out there to successfully manufacture and sell a bike like this.

Their website says: "©2020 ARC Vehicles Ltd. Registered in England & Wales 12529130"

ARC Vehicle Ltd has indeed been dissolved. ARC Vehicles Ltd has never been a thing. Company number 12529130 is ARC V LTD.

Only sounds slightly dodgy. Laughing

Yeah, It's very confusing - the MCN article was published (relatively recently) on 15 Dec 21 and said the designer behind the bike had 'rescued the project from administration hell' and that the project has been revived and will be fulfilling orders.

Perhaps the administration notice refers to the previous incarnation of the company which had to be officially wound down to free ex-investors from any legal/financial obligations to the original company?

200 mile range eh?
That might, just might, get me to the Ace cafe up that London and back if the ad blurb is to be trusted ( it usually cant)

Looking past all that shit about eurythmic response, slapstick feedback and shiny arty pitchers, it's just yer typical ad copy.

It looks tiny and uncomfortable to me
what a load of shite

I think it would be a desirable electric bike for the kind of technology enthusiastic, early adopter kind of motorcyclist looking for something unusual, futuristic and sporty to whizz around on - but only if the price point wasn't so stratospheric.

It will be very interesting to see if they can shift this bike in the kind of numbers they need to cover R&D and make it into profit at that price.

I get that manufacturers want to make "modern" looking bike, but they're doing a shit job of it. To me it almost looks like what someone in the 70s would have drawn if they were asked to draw a bike 60-70 years in the future.

I agree.

I don't see why a radical departure in the motorcycle's power plant and energy source requires an equally radical departure in motorcycle aesthetics.

The shapes and dimensions of electric motors and battery cells are not massively different from ICE engines and petrol tanks so there is no need to come up with these half arsed and ugly designs just because the bike is electric.

Hopefully the design departments at Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki will be able to show everyone how it is possible to build electric GSXRs, Fireblades, R1s and ZX1ORs etc which look just as good or maybe even better than their petrol predecessors.
