First post here, would appreciate your direction!
I am looking to import a couple of used bikes from Europe. Just wondered since the start of the new year and full brexit rules, what exactly would be involved? One is 22 years old, one 34 years old!
Thanks in advance |
Found this - seems legit. Looks like you're in luck with one but less so teh other. Import VAT is the only tax..
European Import
BREXIT - the UK is now out of the EU. The trade agreement in place means you will now have to pay VAT on your import, but no duty.
If the vehicle is over thirty years of age, then the VAT is reduced to 5%
You can avoid taxes if you have owned the car six months, lived outside the UK 12 months, are returning to live here permanently
Otherwise, it will be 20% VAT based on the value of the vehicle you are bringing to the UK. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

I also believe, in some circumstances at least, that VAT is payable on the transport costs too (it is on goods imported anyway). ____________________ TG. |
