I was out yesterday and I think I've seen the car with the ugliest, most pointless front end ever, The electric MG. I had to come home and look it up and believe me, it looks worse in real life than it does in the photo below.

I gather it's Chinese made and costs 30 grand which would be enough to put me off but that front, WTF. Is it meant to look like a standard car grill without having to make one? Was it designed by a kid sticking his fingers in playdough. It's utterly hideous.

Looks like 90% of butt fugly SUV/Crossover/Chelsea tractors about these days tbh.

You could put any badge on it and it would be believable.

It's not helped by the fact its an ICE car/SUV converted to BEV

Not all electric cars have to look that bad (though most do), check out this retro looking truck, like Marty McFly's car from Back to the Future

I accept that but why try and make something that (barely) looks like a radiator grill then.

It's to assist with virtue signalling. Like the fugly arse-end on a Prius.

You see these faux radiator grills with a lot of EV designs - it does look crap and is vaguely patronising - instead they should capitalise on having all this extra frontal space to play with that doesn't need to accomodate a radiator grill, and come up with a new and original front lighting array - something that makes the car unmistakeably electric.

As it's an electric car, said front lighting should really be developed by Lucas, prince of darkness.

Or they could make them more aerodynamic to save on power instead of presenting a textured flat plane perpendicular to the airflow.

They should enclose the wheel arches too.

If it's made too pointy it increases the chance of serious injury for a pedestrian in a slow speed collision.

Yes, the Tesla Model 3 front end is a lot better in this respect.

Yeah, Tesla Model 3 is probably not the best example, but the Tesla Roadster which is supposed to be on sale next year is a much sleeker design.

Original Audi TT is, I think the last original looking car. Then Audi went and bolloxed it up. Perfect front end shape for an EV as well, not sharp enough to break your legs in two but nicely and slightly wierdly curved.

I think the Peugeot RCZ looks better. Mrs stinkwheel has one. I was against the idea at first but it's actually a pretty cool, well finished and nice driving car.

Its a knockoff of the TT and after Audi made a mess of it at that. If i could afford an original TT for a laugh id have one over a new RCZ.

It's not as fun to drive as her old Daihatsu Copen was. I doubt an audi TT would be either.

I bet a copen would FLY with an E-motor.

EV vehicles do shift i had a race off from the lights against some massive Audi EV suv and it was a tight thing it ran out of acceleration against my bike around 40mph but initially was incredible how such a big vehicle could take off.
