Sorry to revive a very old thread but having just bought a DRZ naturally I'm looking at what mods to start with to 'put my stamp on it'.

I'd really like to get an LED headlight if I can, or would settle for an HID unit if nobody makes a decent LED unit for this bike. First port of call being Ebay:

There's these ones which, correct me if I'm wrong, look like just generic 6x4 units and not specific to the DRZ as it suggests in the title as I can't see any mounting points on the back where it would bolt to the headlight mount? So, save for hot glue / silicone, not really sure how you'd mount them?!

And also this one from a private seller claiming it came from USA which looks a bit more up my street but would the beam pattern be back to front if it's come from USA?

Any suggestions for an E-marked LED or HID unit? Sourced from UK if poss but happy to shop from further afield if necessary.

Other than that a new set of plastics wouldn't go a miss but they're easy to come by.

Performance mods not sure if any of these have already been done by previous owners as not had time to look into this yet but I wouldn't mind doing the 3x3 mod along with a FCR39 carb. Already has a Yoshimura exhaust which I may or may not swap out for a Black Widow just so it's nice and new and shiny!

Suggestions for headlight? And if I were to do the FCR39 carb mod anywhere around Kent to recommend to have the work done to make sure it's set up and jetted right?

Don't HID, thats cunt territory.

10 year since I posted in here Shocked

I would just get a nice second hand end can (Arrow, Remus, Yoshi RS2 etc.) and maybe tart it up a bit and just ride it! Thumbs Up I agree with Joe, that's why I've got my KTM. I could have got an FCR 39, big bore kit, hot cams etc. but it'd cost a nice chunk of money and I'd probably spend hours and hours getting it set up right. Plus once you start doing stuff like that the gearbox tends to explode, which is expected, it's made to cope with 35bhp not 55.

Old me literally sold the KTM and bought another DRZ with said FCR39 not long after that Laughing Laughing and now is currently looking into a 2022 690 since very, very little has changed in the SM world these past 10 years, no new DRZ and the 690 is still going, think it's +10BHP up over the one I had at the time.

Anyways, headlights are for nerds:

Nah wouldn't do an HID conversion kit, was more thinking along the lines of a complete purpose-built HID unit. I know the HID conversion kits can be poor quality and rubbish beam pattern especially in an older style reflector unit designed for halogen bulbs.

Bike has just gone bang, anyway!

So that's all my grand ideas for the next mods to do to it down the pan, probably!
