1) russian sanctioned refugee route to Belarus.
2) Belarus has a border with Ukraine. We are half a continent away. |
Ireland is far away and has way more.
Do not get me wrong this is NOT a great generous British people fault! I have a lot of friends who are doing a lot to help.
It is NOT Patel choice. It is NOT Home Office mistakes.
This is a clear political choice and the whole Europe see this disgrace.
Johnson can't hide behind Home Office or the Channel.
This is clear political decision by the UK government and Boris Johnson. I blame Johnson for that disgrace.

The Ukrainian ambassador told the Home Affairs Select Committee that most refugees would prefer to stay in the same region so as to be among their “Slavic tribe.” Have you got a spare room, Val?

Also many of those may be dual nationals or Russian-speaking Ukrainians?
Statistics aren't always what they seem.
I do still think though that we're even having the debate of how many refugees to take is a fecking joke, and I'm usually quite medium-to-hard-right (another way of saying I'm a racist xenophobe) on these sorts of things...
