2017 Yamaha MT-10

Recently accident repaired including stator and flywheel (not sure if this is relevant).

Bike runs fine and everything is straight and true but the engine management light on.

Anyone able to recommend anywhere in Kent that might have the equipment to diagnose the fault? Or is this likely to be main dealer only?

If it's not urgent you can get a Yamaha 3-pin/4-pin to OBD2 adapter from FleaBay and then use any vehicle reader to get codes out. You might need a more Yamaha specific reader (or go to the dealers) if you want to do more than reset codes.

I tried it on my XSR with the Torque app on my phone, works well enough.

To be fair that's probably not a bad idea as I have another Yamaha so may come inn handy in the future anyway.

Any idea where I would find the OBD socket to see whether it's 3 or 4 pin?

If its.3.or 4.pin it's not am obd2 socket.

You need a lead.to go from the 3 or 4 pin to obd2 .

Sorry yeah that's what I meant. Where would I find the 3 or 4 pin diagnostics socket to physically see whether it's 3 or 4 pin? I would hazard a guess it's 4 pin being as it's a new bike, the 4th pin was probably introduced at a later date than the 3 pin to carry extra information not previously carried on the older 3 pin... but you know what they say about assumptions!

So if I got a 3/4 pin to OBD adaptor could I simply use the basic Autel tool Iuse on my cars?

Here's one with the right plug and everything Wink

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153888368892

Usually the diagnostic socket is under the seat with a rubber bung or blanking plug. Probably the pillion seat for an MT10.

Well that's an MT-07 but yeah, bang to rights, I'm being lazy.

To be fair though the original question was "is there anywhere in Kent other than a main dealer who could diagnose the problem".

I'm guessing even buying one of these units is going to be less than the minimum charge for a dealer to plug theirs in, so, I guess it's worth a punt!

Ok Daddy, I'll have a look under the seat now...
