Socialism doesn't strike me as a particularly British thing. You could get a lot more of that in China.

Im not taking the bait. You know full well there's a uniquely british socialist history which has been fundemental to the development of our society.

Bait? It's a simple enough question. Can't you answer it?
Our history goes back over a thousand years. The character of the country has been influenced by all of it, and very little of it has known socialism. Socialism is a baby by comparison with the rest.

What a peculiar question Laughing
Is it just socialism or feudalism in your mind then? No other possibilities?

Socialism is French Sad

That Western governments evolved to be more socialist might be born out of the fear of the massive bloodshed observed with the French and Russian Revolutions Thinking

tl;dr socialism does not equate to "good" but not socialism equates to death Shocked

Very true. The fear in Georgian high society in England was that the workers could rise up like the French did and indulge in a bit of head lopping of the ruling classes. It focussed their policies for many years, both good and bad. The stick and carrot. Bugger all to do with 'socialism' in my view though, that's a post industrialism concept.

I can answer it, so can you but you just want to ignore the British contribution to the development of socialist history and so undermine or even ignore the part it has to play in the progress our society has made.

Socialism is no more French than communism is Russian.

Heres some clues we can let Chikenstrip overhear, Communism has its roots more in China than Europe, for socialism the English civil war was key and before that you could look at non conformism and challanges to Papal power and Catholic thinking in the 15th century.

The "socialism" that gets everyone killed is definitely French, I'll carry on blaming 'em Wink

Back on topic.

'St George's day' these days is more like 'Post on social media about how St George was actually Turkish' etc. etc.

Even though Turkey didn't exist back then.
