Scooty has a Voltmeter

[WD Forte]

Found a button type voltmeter I'd forgotten I had
the other day and decided to fit it to my scooty
as I always like have them on any car or bike

It's 42mm wide on the surface needing a 28mm panel hole
and 25-30mm deep including terminals so pretty compact
and weather proof which I why I bought one

Accuracy wise it's pretty good and reads 0.18V lower than my meter
But!, my meter is reading across the battery terminals while the VM taps in to the harness
after the main fuse and ignition switch so some drop is to be expected.

It doesn't respond to small changes as quickly as my meter but that's not really important.
It is consistent though and I know that when I glance at it when riding and it reads 13.9V
then I know I'm getting 14V and bit at the battery and all's well.

Cant remember what I paid for it but it was pretty cheap and see they're currently going for

got one of these on my old Honda where the battery kept dying.
its nice to see at a quick glace everything is charging as it should be.

Agreed. Have one on one bike- regardless as to how accurate it is to the mV, a quick glance can just clarify if charging is occuring or not. Same goes for two of my cars which I have put one into (each).

One car used to have voltage loss, but that was solved by tightening positive lead at alternator (after taking off and cleaning). The other car interestingly enough has had the alternator light glow dimmly for about 600 miles, but with the voltage gauge installed, I can see it is charging...
