Just an observation from a thread in the New Biker forum, but I've seen this before, when we get a spammer replying to a thread and that post gets bad karma, it seems to affect the overall karma level of the thread. On more than one occasion that makes me want to swerve the thread completely and not go into it, but I clicked on the New Biker one (this one: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=330800) and it was a genuine thread, albeit with a bit of a time break but with good reason, but thanks to a few spam posts, the thread rating was poor.

Would there be any way for "Spam" rated replies (replies only, obviously if a topic is created that's spam, the original post would be bad karma'd and this would be appropriate) to not affect the overall thread rating? This way the offending replies would be hidden, but it wouldn't downgrade the original (valid) topic?

I expect not easy to implement, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case. Thumbs Up

I'd spotted it, but have also noticed that the thread karma rating appears to have absolutely zero relevance to the interest of the content of the thread. Have always ignored it!

I agree, almost see it as a popularity rating, but if it's negative I assume it's swerve-worthy.

I find it amusing when every now and again you get something along the lines of 'Thread rating: Poor (cool)'

It happens when several posts have been rated as poor but are outweighed by something like spam

I deleted the worst offender from that thread so the rating is better.

As above though, the overall rating of the thread probably doesn't mean much.

A boring, uninteresting thread probably has a neutral karma rating. The interesting threads are more likely to be either red or green..

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 1 year, 349 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
