CBR600 is a group 14, SV650 is a group 9 and SV650S is a group 10. I would have thought the insurance for a CBR would be higher than an SV, best thing to do is do a few quotes and see. ____________________ Suzuki RF 600 - The two wheeled Testarossa (Deceased)

I have the cbr600fi and my brother has a sv650s, obviously i prefer the cbr6 although the sv is a great bike insurance between me and my brother wasn't that much different as i have a 01 model cbr and he has a 04 sv with almost no miles on it so its really which you prefer the look of go to a dealer and sit on them get a test ride if you can! cbr6 |

SV, V-twin... once you've had one you probably won't want anything else... (but then inline4 owners would say the same)
Both great bikes, i'm sure whichever you get your not gonna be dissapointed.. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Was looking in to a CBR600 and sv650 myself.
The earliest models that are nice IMO are the 1999 CBR600F4. Any earlier models have mank side fairing.
Also have heard the early injected models are not so great thats 2000+ I believe.
Top build quality and are good for pretty much everything including touring.
For a good 99 f4 you'd be looking at around 3.5k.
Didn't look so much in to the sv but it's a twin so if you like that sort of thing there's not much else in it. Would go for the older frame style since again IMO there nicer and will be alot cheaper now due to new style. ____________________ Enjoy Life There's Plenty of Time to be Dead

the CBR is definately the winning bike if you put spec sheets on the table. The price gap between a new CBR vs a new SV is humongous...
If you don't mind the price, you'd be better off with the CBR.
Do consider the character of a V-twin. Its a feature you can't neglect. Put an afermarket can on a cbr, it'll scream, put an aftermarket can on the sv, it'll roar.
Personally, I'd go for the sv, mainly because of the charm of a v-twin and the interesting pricing.
I don't think the SV will be able to hold its own on a track without some serious tinkering, though... |

SV has more character, sounds lovely (if you like it anyway) and is a generally nice to ride bike... so is the CBR.. I'd swap my SV for a 600f4i any day but not for just a cbr600f older one.. Both good bikes, get test rides and make yer mind up! Click my signature link to see my SV ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |
