I've fitted a set of the neoprene Tucano Urbano "boxing glove" type muffs to Mrs stinkwheels new Honda Wave.

Run into an odd problem. Because it has no left hand lever, the bar muff rotates round on the handlebar making it difficult to get your hand back in if you wipe the visor while riding and sitting open end up and filling with water when parked.

My current thought is to bond the muff to the rubber bar-end "socket" in the hope that this will stop it. Trouble is, not much will bond rubber to neoprene particularly well and there is a fair amount of force on it when in the wind blast.

Just wondering if anyone has come up with an alternative solution? I hadn't forseen that it's mainly the lever sticking through that prevents these rotating, I suppose not many bikes of scooters have no lever on the left bar but it would be relevant for all the C90 derived bikes and I suppose the newer Hondas with DCTs.

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) maybe? I was recently very surprised how well it bonded (very flexible) D3O armour to Velcro strip - previously I'd always only considered it for bonding stuff like hard, brittle surfaces but it was incredibly effective.

Which ones do you have? https://www.urbanrider.co.uk/brands/tucano-urbano/bar-muffs.html

Seems like some of them come with their own bar ends, and/or cover the base of the mirror, which may stop them rotating.

But without buying again, you might have to do some trial and error with hot glue, bathroom sealant, superglue etc. to see what will work with both surfaces. I've never done it so hopefully others know better.

My favoured thought just now is to cut out a big plastic washer to go on the inside of the muff against the bar end cup then rivet or screw through it to sandwich the neoprene to the bar end. The cup is securely fixed to the bar end weight with a screw.

Sounds like as long as the bar end weight won't rotate you should be golden, plus you're not changing the bike in a way you can't undo if you want to in future.

I fixed one quick and dirty with a couple of cable ties
One threaded through the muff and a sloppy-ish loop to one on the bar
to keep it roughly in the desired attitude.
Ok its crude but effective and easily removable for later upgrades or mods

Bend an old coat-hanger into a faux lever shape?

Based on "moves and it shouldn't" methodology, you need duct tape.

Unsure how rigid the muffs are, but will securing them at the bar keep them "straight" so you can easily put your hand back into them, or will they bend into a curve making it still a challenge? I'd be tempted to go as EasyX has suggested, some sort of physical brace that holds the end in place?
