I've got a 75" Samsung wall mounted, literally above our (fake) fireplace because it absolutely dominated the unit it was sat on, Laughing.

I use a little Samsung soundbar and separate sub, god knows what model, as the TV sound is absolute dog shite. I ordered it with the TV as I'm fully aware how bad the sound is from them now.

That must be like sitting in the front row at the cinema having to look up at the screen. I think the tv needs to be at the same eye level as when slumped on the couch.

Not really, as I'm about 10' away so it looks absolutely fine to me, you soon get used to it. Where I've had the TV a couple of years now it actually looks small to me now.

I nearly bought an 86" but the wife wouldn't let me go for that as we'd have to re-arrange the entire living room (which I was quite happy to do) even though we'd only just decorated.

This is one of the big differences between men and women. You will never convince a woman that a bigger tv is better. However ask if they want to swap their telly for a smaller one and they will say no.

I have an 85" in the living room... the issue is, finding TV cabinets that will fit the fucker on if it's not being wall mounted.

Spent nearly a week trying to find the right ones and had to go with some modular units and buy two of them.

There's a couple more speakers at the back of the room too. No soundbar was filling the size of this room (it's pretty long).

Mine is only 75" but I have a similar problem. Mine is currently sitting on an old long side-board that is ancient. Going to chop it up and take it to the dump and then replace it with this (says it can take up to 100"):

Then I was going to sling my sound-bar under the TV directly using these brackets:
