The problem I have with the witch burning shite is it's performative and one would hope the duty of government would be more... tangible.

About that covid app.

Quote:
The ICO advised that the app should not be launched until its concerns about potential non-compliance had been addressed. The Scottish Government and NHS National Services Scotland halted plans to share personal data with the software company, but the app was launched on 30 September 2021 as planned without fully addressing the ICO’s wider concerns about compliance with data protection law.

At this point an investigation was launched by the ICO and the regulator has now issued a reprimand to the Scottish Government and the NHS National Services Scotland over:

their initial failure to provide adequate privacy information within the NHS Scotland COVID Status app at launch to explain how people’s information is being used; and
an ongoing failure to provide concise privacy information so that the average person can realistically understand how the NHS Scotland COVID Status app is using their information.

The ICO has decided to make this reprimand public because of the significant public interest in the issues raised. The decision to issue a reprimand in this case reflects that this is the most effective and proportionate way to make sure the issues identified are swiftly resolved.

Scottish people clearly aren't looking at her track record before voting for her. A public service devolved to SNP is a ruined public service.

Made myself a sandwich, stuck this on:

What They Don't Say About Hadrian's Wall

Is this preachy stuff typical in Scotland?

Unfortunately I always compare Scot-Docs to the masterwork that is Count Dankula's retelling of The Glencoe Massacre so maybe I'm being overcritical Thinking

Why on earth would you remove what's left of Hadrian's wall? Are people really that afraid of history? Confused

We have come to admire Nigel Farage, a towering politician and incisive force for good, interestingly he feels unenthusiastic about Ms Sturgeon, he says Nicola Sturgeon is the 'most unpleasant, sour-faced, humourless' leader he has ever met!

Watch this clip it is a hoot, don't watch this if you are eating your porridge or you will have to redecorate your kitchen.

Regarding Farage, he reminds me of some advice I was once given, never trust any one who uses the word "I" constantly. Watch him on GB news and you will get it.

It's a case of separate the Man from the Message. Robby Tomlinson is a classic example: the message "we should be concerned about girls being raped" is easily ignored if the man is an ineloquent lout.

Nicola Sturgeon unveils case for Scottish independence

"Indisputable democratic mandate" is the phrase trotted out with gay abandon. I take it this is a variant of the American "Our Democracy" Thinking

Funny how the BBC downplayed the right to self determination when they wrote this piece:

Falkland Islands: Loss echoes across Argentina 40 years on

Traitors.

Well, if you look at the makeup of the Scottish Westminster MPs, 47 out of the 59 Scottish seats are held by nationalist candidates who had independance in their manifesto. That's a >80% majority.

64 out of 129 seats in the Scottish parliament are SNP with the 7 Greens in coalition. Which is thinner at 55% but still a very significant majority in a parliament elected by additional member proportional representation.

If that doesn't clear the bar for having a referrendum, I'm not sure what would?

I'd be interested to hear a rational argument for how it might be anything other than an indisputable democratic mandate. Bearing in mind that disagreeing with the potential outcome of the question is not the same as having a valid objection to the process under which it is being asked.

Are you lot still here? Bloody hell, you'll never be a rich independent nation if everything takes you this long.
Have you heard from the EU lately? Are they willing to carry you yet? Mind you, the amount of money Westminster has sent you, every Scot should be rich by now. What's up, don't know what Sturgeon's done with it all? Laughing

We should care when people want independence but if they say they don't want independence the results are invalid Thinking That's according to the logic of the journalists traitors working for the BBC and Guardian vis-à-vis Falkland Islanders' right to self determination.

Party politics aside (because we're being led by a bunch of idiots right now), I think now more than ever we need to be united not divided. Irrespective of how you voted, Brexit has taught us that severing a union is a messy, convoluted and costly exercise (and I suspect the repercussions will be felt for a very long time). The cost of just organising a referendum, let alone all the chaos that would follow it if got a mandate to go independent, would be phenomenal. On the cusp of a recession. With massive government debt. FFS let's use that money a bit more wisely.
