I like what they've done. They've hacked the secret of sports.

I've often thought about why the Olympic games were invented, in ancient times. I came to the conclusion that people only participate in games that they can, realistically, win. There are always entry barriers (travel, expensive equipment, training) and always a certain group of people with an innate advantage over others (e.g. mountain people might have a higher VO2 max benefiting them in long distance running, or horse herders might take more easily to polo). The rewards are very real, because sports are dramatic to watch, and people superimpose their model of how life is supposed to work on the imagined narratives of the sportsmen involved (for example, Lance Armstrong with sheer American grit overcomes leg cramps and suddenly makes 500m headway over all other racers in the Tour de France). Sport can out-psych rival nations and tribes.
