Hi guys, decided to head out for a short one last night and changed my method for getting on to the bike and out of the parking space. Didn’t go well and I dropped the fucker; nice one, NooBish..

Anywho, no damage other than the bolt for the bar end mirror is now bent and I’m trying to work out what size bolt I need.

Hex on top is 5mm
Length is 60mm, thread running the length
Width is 7 or 8mm
Across the head looks to be 19mm

Hold on a second. I’m trying to add some picture but the site is being a bit shit,

M8 countersunk headed allen screw with a galvanised finish overall length 60mm.*

Find some ' Engineers supplies' place on an industrial estate, they'll sort you out. Don't for goodness sake go in Screwfix/ Halfords/ Some Diy place - they won't have a clue. If you were to come into my garage , I'd sort you with a second hand bolt for about 20p.

Ok, I know Allen screws are really called "Hexagonal socket headed cap screws"- but in the real world everyone calls them Allen screws.

Ffs just order a new one from fowlers. It'll probably cost 3 quid.

Edit: just realised it's a.stupid aftermarket mirror. No doubt your bike is 'customised''*

* ruined in ordinary English.

Not sure why you think having a great view of your forearm is preferable but each to their own.

The mirrors on the strumpet are.perfect and are also indicators.

Well I've been using them for 3 years and haven't had an issue. I also have great visibility to the rear from them. Maybe you just needed to take some time to adjust them..

Nope, I dont need to. I just look in them and can see whats behind me.

I bet you are still ducking under or looking over your arm to see whats behind.

Not a fan of bar end mirrors for practical reasons.
A
They're too low and make the bike wider then it needs to be which is probably why you clouted one of them in the first place.
B
When riding, well setup mirrors just need a quick glance
by moving your eyes and allow some peripheral vision
Bar ends give very little if any peripheral vision
and need a head movement to focus on what's going behind you

Normally this isn't an issue but could be if the second or two you spend moving your head and focussing on the bar end mirror takes you into a potentially hazardous situation.
At just 50mph, 2 seconds takes you 147 feet or 44 meters without
looking where you're going.

C
They usually belong in the form over function, no mudguard, cafe racer club

Dont get the autism rage at bar ends, they work fine if you have a decent set.

On some machines they have been a huge improvement over buzzing fairing mounted ones with massive blindspots for me. Much wider field of view and still in peripheral vision.
