The Tube is about the best part of London's transport system. Buses & taxis rely on the roads and the only way to get around on them is motorbike/scooter (not practical if you're travelling from out of town.)

From Canary Wharf to get into the city you'd probably want to get onto the Jubilee, District or Central lines as quick as possible as DLR is a bit naff.
