Hello all, I'm not familiar with exactly how the cartridge forks work on a 1998 Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat.
They are conventional forks and not usd's.
The bike is still on one piece so I can't check how things work yet.
Basically I have some replacement stanchions but one of them has a manufacturing defect inside of the tube. There is a recessed mark about 12 inches up from the bottom end.
It's just above the two fluid holes.
My main query is does the cartridge move up and down inside the stanchion when in use?

Will this mark cause the seals on the cartridge to become damaged etc or will it work just fine.

The cartridge doesn't move up and down in relation to the stanchion, the oil and the rest of the fork does.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Thank you for your reply.
So will this mark be ok in your opinion and not cause any issues?
