With respect, read my post again. As I clearly said I NEVER auto renew. I'm well aware of the reasons why such a function exists
and as a result whenever I buy insurance I stipulate that I don't wish to auto renew. Just like I did last year on my van
and indeed the three policies I've set up for my other vehicles since, seems that Gladiator went ahead and ignored my stipulation.
To be fair, even if they hadn't hiked the price I'd have walked after a stunt like that. I've been insuring vehicles for some 30
years now, I know what I'm doing and I won't tolerate being mugged off to purchase a product I can potentially be prosecuted
for not having, just because they like to keep moving goalposts to suit themselves. It also doesn't explain the significantly lower
quote from my old original insurer through the same comparison site I bought my new cover through. I never even had to divert
to Swinton's site to confirm the policy details and pay, the monies were taken directly through the comparison site.
The ONLY way to explain this is that they make it up these prices as they go along and rely on apathy (and dodgy auto renewals)
to retain your custom rather than rewarding your loyalty. It cost Gladiator a customer today and gained one for Swinton
with their VERY competitive price. That's all I wanted from Gladiator, same price as last year or thereabouts and I'd have stayed.
Now they get nothing because of their unashamed greed and willingness to stripe up a well established customer. What's more I'll tell anybody who will listen to give them a wide swerve if they were considering using them for cover.
If one person reads this and goes elsewhere as a result it will be worth the effort of typing the post. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
