A parcel being delivered by FedEx from Belgium has been stuck at CDG airport now for 4 days. Eventually got to speak to someone at FedEx and "there's a massive backlog, we've got no idea when your parcel will get through". Shocked Talk about inept. Evil or Very Mad

Ordered a second hand exhaust for my scoot from Holland a short while ago. Two days later and it was in my hand.
Someone's blowing smoke up your arse.

You've held your tongue for 10 yrs. The fact you could have sorted it donkeys ago makes you guilty for letting it out now.

That's my theory anyhoo.

Had two (Royal Mail) letters delivered on Sunday - that was a bit weird.
One was a NIP for my other half (doing 70 mph in a 60) and the other was for me - an appointment for a colonoscopy.

Happy days.

The petrol station in the small village are doing unleaded 21p per litre cheaper than the supermarkets. How are Morrisons and all the rest allowed to do this? The local garage isn’t giving it away, he must be making a profit. There’s queues down the road at rush hour to fill up - understandably and correctly - yet Morrisons forecourt is a ghost town. Why are they not trying to compete? Is this just blatant price fixing between them?
(For reference the petrol locally is 155p, Morrisons 176p)
Thinking about this I’m not sure this is grinding my gears as such, I obviously fill up there. The bit that is narking me I think is that it shows what fuel COULD be sold at!

What's the problem? Unless you're running on fumes you're not forced to buy from a particular petrol station. If sales drop they might have an incentive to drop prices. There is a capital value to stored fuel and the bean counters get agitated if it's not shifted, even if it has to be done at a lost.

Free market in action.

I’m wondering if the supermarkets bought petrol in bulk weeks ago when it was expensive, whereas the local place has just filled its underground tank with fuel at the lower current cost.

Just reading an article on inflation and, yes it's affecting me but no where near as much as a lot of people.

However I do actually wonder who writes some of these articles. Are they written just to cause a reaction? (It is the BBC)

The one I am reading, amongsts other things states Rebecca Brown, a full-time PhD student at the University of Nottingham, is worried about what will happen when her energy bills go up again this winter.

Fair enough, it's not going to be pleasant at all. But then in the next paragraph she says "After rent and bills plus my bus fare, phone, Netflix and Spotify bills, that leaves me around £300 to £400 a month for food, fun and necessities," she said.

Whoa a minute, Netflix and Spotify bills? I have no idea of the cost of Spotify but if it's the same as Netflix that's an instant saving of about £20 a month, £240 a year. Not a huge amount but Netflix and Spotify are hardly necessities to living.

Is this a case of first world priorities? Laughing

She's probably on a £40p/m phone contract as well, but why would you still have a netflix subscription Confused 'Netflix loses almost a million subscribers' - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62226912

People think they NEED internet. A phone, etc. I'd argue we don't NEED electricity or gas. They're all luxuries that we have simply grown dependant on. In the case of phones and internet (and TV) I think we'd all agree that it's simply an addiction. The Internet has been a recognised addiction since the at least the early 90's when it really exploded with public availability and ironically, you could even visit specialised BBS's which tried to resolve/help with internet addiction. One was called the Internet Addiction Support Group (IASG).....

Hire bouncers to patrol between the living room and the dining room.

"...the free WiFi might go down." Fuck 'em replied the landlord. "But people view free WiFi as essential facilities, like toilets."

A conversation I've had several times!

I work from home so Internet is fairly essential for Zoom meetings etc. Essential enough to claim it back as expenses / tax write-off Smile Netflix is there to keep the wife happy so even more essential!

Wheeled suitcases!

In the days you had to carry them, people travelled light.. returning from my hols on Eurostar and the world and his wife (mostly 'muricans it seems) all have these ridiculously huge cases that could carry a cadaver. one twat was pulling one in each hand effectively blocking the entire platform..

.. bunch of arse.
