I thought it was quite considered and appropriate.

Why should my kids lose 40% of what I leave when Charlie and co. who have hundreds of millions don't?

I will remind you that royal residences and their maintenance aren't owned or maintaind by the royalsd but by the state but the royals get to use them as they see fit. So Buck house, balmoral, and Windsor Castle aren't even part of the estate.

Ask your local MP Wink
But yes, you have just proved it's pure resentment, that's it.

The royals do pay some taxes, though. Under the 1993 agreement with the British government, the queen and her eldest son agreed to pay capital gains and income tax on their personal assets and on income derived from crown assets that was not used for official purposes.

But remember, they also bring in a much vaster income to this country than the funds they consume. Certainly more than you do Laughing

And none of that is even the most important stuff about the monarchy.

yes, absolutely voluntarily though. Not required to by law and most of their net value is their capital they leave when they die.

By the way, quite a lot of the people who the current monarch is head of state of don't want the UK monarch to be their head of state.

The carabean countries are going to fuck him off quite quickly, closely followed by australia. pretty sure he'll be head of state in quite a few african countries as well.

Once they fuck him off, the monarchy in the UK will become as irrelevant on the world stage.

I just can't get worked up over it somehow. It has no visible impact on my life. What the monarchy stands for and does for this country is much more important than a few baubles here and there. If you want to get worked up over something that definitely does drain your finances, have a look at the NHS. Now there's a dysfunctional institution!

How many?

We shall see. It is their right to do so, and they won't be resisted by us evil imperialists if it is their choice.

It's not resentment, by the way. Why shouldn't I expect parity of treatment unless they are 'better' than me?

Thats sends us down a whole new rabbit hole about some genetics being better and more worthy than others.

Yes, it is resentment. The monarchy IS better than you.
Once again, it is the institution that matters.
I accept that you can't, and possibly never will understand any of that though. Not everyone has the time to really delve into these matters, and fewer understand the significance of history (although I think some lefties do, which is why they're always trying to rewrite it).

Exactly why does the position need hundreds of millions to pass on to their offspring and be exempt from taxation to be a powerless figurehead?

FFS, even PUTUS isn't exempt from the US taxation system.

It doesn't bother me. It's just not a big enough deal to get worked up over. Control that resentment Nobby, it'll eat you alive! Do you want to end up like that Ribenapoison chap? Laughing

...the exemption is designed "to safeguard the erosion of the Sovereign's wealth".

Over a thousand years the monarchy has had it's ups and downs but why now to get rid of it?

Petty arguments on on tax and wealth are a distraction from the true aim: to disconnect the plebs from the foundation of tradition.

It's just another part of the marxist road map the socialists follow to reach the communist utopia, which doesn't exist, nor ever can. Those for it here are just more useful idiots.

To a certain extent I think you are right but not just for the monarchy. People like me who are of the "Ask not what your country can do for you..." era are now history. It's completely different nawadays. I hate it. I hate reading people slagging the Queen off when shes only been in her grave a couple of days. I hate reading that we are a country that needs to stick their tongue up someones (black) arse to keep everyone happy.

I presume most younger people are happy with the way things are going, and for that reason, the country will be what it will be.

What was it said by some mouthy bitch 'Not my Prime Minister' when Boris go elected? Sadly it's 'not my country' any more.

Eh? They've been raised to be that way, Boomers were ignored when they were student activists, now you're getting a feedback loop and you're seeing what a shitshow it is.

Well if they're too dumb to see the stupidity in some of what they're being taught, I have little sympathy.

Well that's why they, as in anyone who wants to indoctrinate, goes for the young, as they're naive and impressionable (and probably too trusting as well).

Adults are less so and normally have their own experience(s) to draw on.

Not really, that's the constant, everyone wanting to indoctrinate believes they're 'right', and therefore fully justified in what they're doing.

It's politics. Politics is about opinion more than facts. That's how it works. You could be considered to be trying to indoctrinate me here.

I have my politics, you have yours. In some areas we might think similarly, in others not. We have decided we know what we like - it's not so much about what is right, since in politics there is much disagreement on that.
It's natural that people would want to convince others of their own position, as in the end, it can decide what kind of country we live in. That's pretty important to most people i'd guess.
