Hi everyone.

I have a cbf 600 n-6. its a 2006 model. I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn the speedometer lights on? The normal lights are on, the high beams work fine, But driving at night is a guessing game for how fast I'm going.
Can anyone help?

I can't find any info online.
Is there a button I'm meant to press? Is it broken? I don't know...

Speedo lights should come on when the side and or headlamp are turned on.

I don't know the specifics for your bike, but Honda are known for linking the speedometer backlights to the tail lamp first and not directly to power from the switch, as an indicator of a tail light fault. Does your tail lamp work?

If so, maybe your speedo backlight bulbs are simply blown?

Sometimes the simpliest answer is the correct one.

The bulbs are broken. Yes, there are probably about 3.

Look at the back of the speedo. There will be a series of rubber plugs with wires connected. Some will align with the indicator lights, main beam etc. Some seem to be round the outside edge. It's the ones on teh outside that light the speedo itself.

Just pull them out and buy replacement bulbs.

Had this exact thing to sort last week. Checked fuse, wiring, plug connector. Turned out to be all 4 backlight bulbs blown. The clocks were always dimly lit so probably only had 1 or 2 all the time I've owned it but over summer the last one went out and I only noticed with the darkening days.

Yeah, cascade bulb failure is common with clock backlights. To the point if one goes, you may as well replace them all once you've gone through the rigmarole of getting to them. You can almost garauntee the others will follow soon.

I had one of the dipped beam blow which blew the other one followed by the fuse which also happened to be the fuse that powered the solenoid so I couldn't start the bike.

It took me a whole day to trace and fix. A bulb that had shorted itself.

I have a picture. Can't be arsed to find it now.

I once started my bike in the night to go for a ride, and turned the headlamp on, after a while the bike itself was acting kinda funny. And then there were no lights, and no ignition. Fuse was blown but additionally both the low and high beam poles in the headlamp bulb has bent towards eachother and were touching. Interestingly weird.

I'll need to track down where to get them but thank you for the response! I think everyone here is right. Blown bulbs or fuse. Just need to track them down and fix it now. Thank you everyone!

There won't be a separate fuse for the clock lights.

good luck with that mate, on N8 you need to remove the top yoke to remove the clocks and then you can disassemble the clocks casing from the bottom. a proper PITA.
