I’ve got a small (£300) bonus from work and it’s the start of my 61st trip round the sun so I’m looking to treat myself. One idea is to buy a cutting machine like the Cricut Maker 3 (a bit more than £300). I’d use it for gasket-making, reflective stickers and ‘arty’ stuff, but I’m not sure it’s worth it. Any Cricut users here?

It turns out I can still buy gaskets for my two late ‘90s/ early 2000s bikes at a cost which beats the price of a cutting machine and materials/tools, so unless I went all bike-Etsy there’s no financial justification. It would still be a cool thing and my arty nieces might love it but I’m going off the idea.

I did piss about with the app though.

So, no Cricut and no drone. Crying or Very sad

I’m going to have to spend that £300 on tea, fine wines and cake. The finest wines available to humanity, and I want them now. Very Happy

Name that film. Wink

One of my wife's best friends has a cricut, they made some bits for our wedding using it.

Honestly I wanted to hate it but I have to concede it was really decent and I can imagine it's very versatile if you're that way minded. She makes lots of Etsy type things with it to sell.

Got 2 of my sisters cricut air somethingorothers.
They both do lots of cardmaking.

I have a Silhouette cameo.
Use it for cutting vinyl. Garment vinyl for t-shirts and normal vinyl for signage, wheelie bin numbers etc.

I've scanned original gasket or cover, created a dxf file and cut them out on my cnc machine.
If scanning is not an option you have to take careful measurements and
create the dxf the longer way.

Establishing datums/ centres etc and photographing them on a graph paper background can help too
