Sat on one last year, lovely but very expensive. Got the 1000SX instead and now looking at these again as the NEC show rolls around once more, although probably just a pipe dream.

One cropped up on the motorbike show, ridden by a lady who vlogs on youtube or some such. However when being interviewed she said something along the lines of ‘I get 80 miles to a tank’! I was gobsmacked! Checking on the Kwak UK site it says around 5.4 litres/100 km which in proper money is about 43 mpg in the YoooEsss and 50+ here.

80 to a tank? How the hell do you get it down to that?

I got >70 mpg out of my XSR on a long run - forced to do 50~60 mph on the motorways due to atrocious weather. I expect you can get great mileage out of all sorts of bikes if you don't mind the boredom of minimum revs in top gear.

Nutter.
Did she say what her riding was like? I mean, I take it she's not using it for a gentle commute (and let's face it, only an idiot would buy an H2 for that - only one reason to buy one of these).

Manufacturer MPG figures are nearly always a little generous. I am getting about 150 miles out of a 17 litre tank
on my 22 MT10 currently but I'm running it in, short shifting and not going past 7000rpm of a potential 12000 available.
From what I've read 8000 is where this bike really starts pulling hard and guzzling the motion lotion. I run it on super
unleaded as I have on all my bikes, not sure if that makes a difference or not. The mark two MT10 is also supposedly
more fuel efficient than the mark 1. The manufacturers average mpg figure is 36mpg on the mark 2. Six whole miles
more M's per G than the old mark 1's 30mpg average. Yamaha are crowing loudly about this improvement in range
on the new model Laughing Yet my two litre (120 bhp) petrol car gets much better MPG numbers than that lugging over
a tonne down the road. But obviously it isn't nearly as fast as a bike putting out 165bhp at the crank or as much fun.

I reckon I could probably get the range on the new bike down to 110miles from a tank using all the revs in just a
couple of hours of dickery and plain old hooliganism. I'll find out once I've had the first service done. Laughing

I can totally believe a supercharged litre bike is exceptionally thirsty though.

I would imagine mid 40s would be realistic for average enthusiastic riding. It's a fairly slippery bike so unless you're doing triple figures or on severely speed varying roads (where it's impossible to carry much speed through the corners) I imagine you'll achieve that. Yeah loads of power and therefore loads of go-juice needed to get that power, but in reality how long can you keep the throttle pinned on a bike like that (unless you've a death wish or are hellbent on losing your licence).

She certainly doesn’t own high end sports bikes just for the image like a lot of birds do. Proper gives it the beans.

Bike manufacturers and car manufacturers are always going to post the best case scenario aren't they? And forced induction engines are THIRSTY when pushed. I used to have a turbocharged Subaru and that drank like a fish, much worse than my 3 litre BMW and worse than my 3.8 Porsche. So I totally see a H2 drinking it like a raver downing bottles of water.

Sometimes to the point of using blueprinted engines and other dastardly tricks on their test models to get better results than you ever will on the example you buy from the showroom.

For a point of reference my 1000cc Triple* returned 60 mpg on a 350 mile return trip on the motorway recently - admittedly average speed cameras meant I rarely exceeded 60 mph for most of the journey...

..nomination for dullest post of 2022?

My Kwak turbo used to get 50 to the gallon on long motorway trips, sat mostly at a steady 80mph. Or you could empty the tank in no time if you gassed it everywhere. Generally, it was hard to resist getting it in the sweet spot and then winding it on for that turbo rush. I've had faster bikes, but the way that power came in was just so addictive.

I've managed to drain a tank on my H2SX in 110 miles since having it remapped.

When I'm being sensible I can get nearly 200 miles.
