Hi,
I recently purchased an 11 year example of the above bike. It has low miles and generally is a nice bike. However, i am perplexed with the fuel tap.
My understanding is as follows;
'On' position is at 6 o clock
'Reserve' is at 12 'o' clock
And 'off' is at 9 o clock.
I went out for my first run of 15 miles today and realised that i hadnt turned the petrol 'on'.....am i missing something....or is there a fault with the fuel tap??
Many thanks

Post a picture Smile There's no standard as such for fuel taps.

What position was the tap in? Missionary?

On all my non vacuum fuel taps the shortest part off the lever points to the position, so 12 oclock is on, 3 oclock is off and 6 oclock is reserve.

That sound like my old manual fuel taps but to be sure
just whip the pipe off (with a capture vessel) to test its function.
( test don't guess see?)

You'll need a low fuel level to test between on and reserve

Looking at pictures on ebay, off is the tap horizontal. On is turned all the way clockwise, reserve is all the way anticlockwise. So exactly as you say.

If it did 15 miles with the tap horizontal/ 9 o' clock, there's probably something wrong with it. They'll often do a mile or two just on what's in the float bowl, but not 15 miles.
