More than one account - 'spending' account with a linked card never has more than enough in it for what i want to buy week in / week out. Contactless limit manually set to 20 quid. Bank wanted it set at £100 when they updated their system - GTF with that.

Everything that has an account that pays has MFA set by text/App and notifications by email. Anyone ringing to demand payment / offer money gets hung up on - nothing is free other than stuff you neither need nor want.

Decent AV and emails set to plain text so i can see what links actually are. The only way to 'click' is to copy and paste out into a browser.

No loans. No Credit Card(s).

My local branch is anything but local these days.

Are you my mother-in-law? Wink
How many more years do you reckon you'll actually have a local branch? Single figures at most, anywhere in the country, is my bet

It'll always have a branch, it's pretty much their selling point. It's a local building society and they have 17 branches within a 15 mile radius of where I'm sitting now, I've always had to join a short queue any time I've gone in one. Staff are helpful and courteous and incredibly patient with some of the elderly customers who come in.

I opened a new savings account last year and there's no card or postal statements, it's got a bank book! I had to go in and sign it in front of them and they update it whenever you present it at the counter. Like to see someone boiler-room fraud that account!

They are extremely well liked as a banking institution, probably the most popular in the area but you can only have an account with them if you have a local postcode.

EDIT: They're pretty hot on security too. When I called to let them know I was going to be using my card abroad, they wanted to know where I was calling from. I was actually at work at the time. They said they were checking because I'd only ever called from my home number before.
