Brixton Academy: What happened in the crush? I thought I was going die - Brixton crush victim

I'm sure you'll all have read about it by now. Crowds smashing down the doors to get in and now whining beacause they got hurt and I expect the police will get the blame somehow!

Anyway, that is not really my reason for posting. The reason is to ask the BCF massive if it's wrong that I feel sadder for those fish that died in the Berlin tank failure than a load of twats getting themselves in the sh1t in london?

A "large number of people" tried to force their way inside

I think I may have spotted the problem... Rolling Eyes Too much testosterone and too little impulse control... Where have
we seen this before? In my day if you wanted to see a gig, you paid for a ticket and queued up until you got inside.
I've been to hundreds of gigs, from stadiums to jazz bars and nobody got stomped on unless they were voluntarily
in a mosh pit, even then if you went underfoot people would lift you to your feet.

Florence Eshalomi, MP for Vauxhall, whose constituency includes Brixton, called the incident "deeply concerning".
She said: "It is very clear ticketing and security procedures have not performed as they should have for this incident to have occurred.
"We need answers about exactly how this happened and safeguards against it in future."

Apparently it was the fault of one copper who pushed somebody. Not the fault of all the people pushing each other, trying to get in for free. Rolling Eyes

This time I'm gonna blame it on the boogie.

In the early part of this century, I attended quite a few Brixton sound system / music events. Never was there any trouble. However, that was reggae. It was kind of self-policed by the attendees and by the event organisers. Most civilised, it was. Us sound system followers were even handed flyers inviting us to wedding parties.

If you had a mosh pit in any part of the country, with skilled, talented and capable musicians playing some kind of headbanger music, I don't know what would happen. But this seems to me more about the values being promoted by the "music" than anything else.

Twice I've gone to a gig when I haven't had a ticket. Both times it was with the hope I could buy one from a tout
because I really wanted to see the band playing and couldn't buy one through usual channels because it had
sold out. Both times I was happy to try my luck and if unsuccessful return home again. Once I got the ticket for
a tenner above retail and once I found a tout who had one but he wanted really silly money and I couldn't afford
it. In neither case would I have attempted to just shove my way in past security. Some people just don't like following
rules. I feel sorry for the security guard.

5th one down. It's a black thing, same as the postcode stabbings. It's all fine, normal roadman stuff. Until it's your
little Gerwaine laying there bleeding out, or your Tanisha that's had her head melon stomped in a crowd and then
it's the most awful thing ever and indicative of a society that doesn't value you.

Might also have something to do with the latest fashion of rushing into shops and venues.
