I'm hoping some of you might have a little experience in the watch department and can help me please.

I'd like to buy a watch/bracelet that vibrates me awake (I'm partially deaf), I don't want to spend a fortune as I'm not into brands and more likely to just wear it at night.
But I'd also ideally like it to connect to my phone, so when I'm on 24hr support I'll get woken up instead of having to rely on my wife waking me up when my phone goes.

Now here's the catch, I have rather large wrists! No amount of different ways of Googling stops all the Chinese smart watches coming up first - none of which fit me. I need a strap to fit at least 23cm, the majority are max. 22cm.
Has anyone come across a watch that meets my needs? Thumbs Up

Don't know about a watch for your specific needs as I'm not one for anything smart-watch, but unless you're looking at smart-watches that have integrated straps, or straps which form part of the case design (new G Shock GA-B001, for example) then the easiest solution would be to just buy a new resin / tropic / even NATO style strap which actually fits you.

Can you link some of the ones you've seen that would suit your needs?

Yeah, unfortunately a lot are integrated. There's a couple I could use for alarm watches only:

https://tabtime.com/products/tabtime-vibrating-alarm-watch-with-10-alarms

https://www.pivotell.co.uk/Vibralite+8+Vibrating+Watch/0_CAAA002/PRAA018.htm

Then for android phone connection something like this, but I'm wary of less well known brands and bluetooth connectivity issues they always seem to come with:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Activity-Trackers-Temperature-Pressure-Waterproof/dp/B08PNWDHP3/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=12DWYY30BPQYF&keywords=%22vibrating%22%2Bsmartwatch&qid=1673277683&sprefix=vibrating%2Bsmartwatch%2Caps%2C66&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

I have seen this in Argos, a better brand - size is medium but then strap length is long.
But then I've also just found out it isn't compatible with my Pixel 6 Rolling Eyes :

A 22cm band will be fine with a 23cm circumference wrist.

If you only want the watch for vibrating alarm clock purposes then something like this could be a better option: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TabTime-Vibrating-Alarm-Reminder-Watch/dp/B08PDKC4JT/

Or something like this along with some strobe lights and sirens could be enough to wake you up: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Geemarc-Sonic-Bomb-Shaker-Version/dp/B000OOWZUK

A second hand Pebble would be a viable solution. Although they're no longer supported, there's a Rebble app run by enthusiasts.

You could just stick a vibrator with a knackered battery up your arse with the charging cable connected to a timer.

You do know how numbers work don't you!? Laughing I've had fitbits etc before and 22cm bands have been too tight.

Did you miss the bit about not wanting my missus to wake up too? Course, it doesn't help me being a heavy sleeper and her waking at the drop of a pin. Neutral

As for the vibrator up my arse, that's how I sleep normally anyway... Razz

Wrist circumference is not the same as band length.

Fitbits do not come with 22cm bands.

According to their website the large bands "Fits wrist 7.1″ - 8.7″ in circumference" which is 18cm - 22.1cm. The wrist band will be at least a few cm shorter than that because the watch also takes up some wrist circumference space.

You see how these numbers work? Wink Mixing up wrist circumference with band length is a bit of a mess. Laughing

Fossil Hybrid. Basic monitoring functions. Proper hands with an ink screen. Alarm, vibration, light etc. Easy as fuck to get replacement straps for as they are standard 22mm width. Battery last weeks and recharges in an hour. I love mine and while I really pefer mechanical watches this is the next best thing as I have to track my heart rate.

Wildly varying prices if you shop around but linked is the Fossil website.

https://www.fossil.com/en-gb/watches/learn-more/hybrid-hr-smartwatches/

They didn't actually make these when I bought mine or I wouls have seriously considered one...

You can pick up 2nd hand Galaxy Watch for < 80 quid if you shop around. Refurbished with a 12 month warranty.

Then pick up 2 of https://www.amazon.co.uk/HATALKIN-Galaxy-Compatible-Samsung-Classic-Silver/dp/B09BHYT2LF/ref=sr_1_64?crid=29S2CCE5VVDXL&keywords=galaxy+watch+strap&qid=1673375270&sprefix=galaxy+watch+strap+%2Caps%2C58&sr=8-64

And use the links from the other strap to extend one strap by the required amount.

That'd be my way around it.

Seiko 5 look nice, not something I would collect personally but still look really good even though I am not a fan of chunky hands.

I wouldn't touch the Luminox, it's a soulless quartz watch. I would go for the Seiko 5 automatic.

I take it you prefer your vibrators to be clockwork then.

Variable, I think between +2 and -5 minutes a day. Enough that it wasn't worth using it as a watch.

I've had a fair few cheap (sub £200) automatic watches over the years. None of them have been very good.

TK Maxx have a deal on Luminox watches at mo-
https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/search?st=luminox&sort=&facets=&page=0

just bear in mind that tritium has a half life of about 10 years.
so if these watches have been sitting around for a while they may be a bit dim.

The rough life of the tritium illumination is about 25 years based on it's half life of around 12.5 years. It'll still glow but nowhere near as brightly as it did from new.
