I'm sure you have seen on the news a 4 year old girl was killed by a dog on Milton Keynes on one of the major council estates.
On local estate media before it was all shut down there were people complaining bout a pitbull type dog chasing people and it's owner egging it on. I have no idea if it was the same dog but consensus is that it was.
I'm a dog lover, I've had GSD's as long as I can remember but something needs to be done to control dog ownership in my view. At the very minimum all dogs must be microchipped, a licence system reintroduced and dog owner must have 3rd party insurance.
No, it won't bring the little girl back but it may stop the trend of gangs/toughs/yobbos using dogs as weapons.
There again we can't stop people stabbing each other so what chance have we got with dogs. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Trouble is, pond-life won't obey the rules so whatever is introduced won't stop young Tyson owning his American Doberstaff or whatever today's most dangerous breed is and said pooch chewing people's faces off.
Perhaps the solution would be to have snatch-squads in vans picking up anybody with a puffer jacket, road-man handbag and a vicious-looking mutt. They could put them all in a pit, throw in raw meat, close the lid then open it again 2 weeks later...

It's going to keep happening. There is an epidemic of poorty socialised, overly anthroporphised "lockdown puppies".
I'm seeing a lot more fearful, clingy and difficult to manage young adult dogs coming into the surgery. Many of the owners are in denial about it and treat the dog as if it's a child. Often the only way I can get anything done is to find an excuse to take it away from the owner into a different room and get my nurse to help handle them. There are quite a few needing to be bombed out with trazodone before they even come in through the door.
A puppy will deal with this kind of thing by becoming withdrawn and fearful. As they get older, they're more likely to respond with aggression.
Training this kind of thing out of them is a huge commitment in time and effort which is beyond the scope of most owners and needs to start with admitting there is a problem. I fully expect to be euthanaising quite a lot of young, healthy dogs in the next few years. Hopefully before they actually do someone a serious injury. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. most dog bites are advoidable dogs rearly bite without warning
but many cant read the signs
in the uk its a two fold problem with bad breading and owners that dont have a clue what there doing with larger more powerfull breeds
recent ones often have been inexperianced owners with large guard breeds that they have not owned from a pup
id never allow a dog around children that had not been socilised with them
offten some breeds with mistake small children for prey if they got a high pray drive and not socilised corectly
if had dogs all my life including rotwhilers for many years as my favorate breed
tip if ever get a rottie dont expect to take a dump without a audiance again |

micro chiping dont work for bad owners and i hat the things caused a tumor in one of my dogs the size of a orange in her chest another migrated a nerve branch behind that ones ear
all it wil do is cause more agro for responsible owners and be ignored by the morons
already micro chips are required by law only exception is if it has to be removed for medical reson like my current girl |
