For the first time in about twenty years, I paid a bicycle shop to do some work!
Money well spent as wheel building isn't easy, before admitting defeat I gave it a good shot as in theory if you tighten the spokes equally then the wheel should be straight and should be centered correctly. Needless to say, in practice it didn't quite work that way.
Dropped the wheel off to them at about 5pm on Friday and it was done in time for me to collect on my way home from the normal Saturday morning kayak training session.
£25 is a quite acceptable price apart from now I've been looking round their shop and looking at other things to buy. |

A new Breville kettle from Lidl. Old one was looking worse for wear and new one matches me tiles in the kitchen.
I like it, it's quieter than my old kettle and thankfully seems to be exempt from the push to make everything
run on sod all power at a healthy, rapid boiling 3kw. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

3 sessions of Go Karting at Teamsport Bristol. Niece and Nephew are coming to visit at the weekend along with my
mother and sister. Uncle Grr is going to give them a bit of a treat. Not a cheap treat mind you, was £120 for me and
the kids, 2 x 15 minute sessions next Monday while Mum and Sister have a day out shopping in Bristol. After Go
Karting a quick Mcdonalds then we're going to make pancakes with many disgracefully fattening toppings on them back
at my place. Then we're gonna play some video games for a bit. In the early evening they will both be watching Star
Wars - A new hope on Blu ray in full 65" backlit glory with surround sound and popcorn because somehow they've
both been alive for over a decade and haven't seen any Star Wars .It is my sworn duty as official cool uncle to fully
bring them into my lifelong Star Wars obsession. I have my Ghost camera fully charged up ready so I can hopefully
capture a bit of footage of them on track, I'll be wearing my own lid. In my experience, bored kids are shitty kids
so I have every minute of the day I'll have them planned out. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

The best thing is the kids don't know they're coming to visit. They'll be told by my sister that they are staying at an
air B&B rented house. They don't even know they are going away for the weekend yet and when they find out they are,
they are being told they are visiting where mummy used to go on her holidays when she was little so they can see the
place themselves. Strictly speaking that's true, we're going to Weston Super Mare and Brean on Sunday. I've already
bought them unlimited ride wristbands for Weston Pier because Brean leisure park where me and my sis went to often
when we were little isn't properly open until May, so Weston Pier will have to do. Unfortunately their go karts are
undergoing maintenance which is why I sprung for the day trip to Teamsport on Monday.
I'm quite looking forward to taking a mini hike up Brean Down with the kids, weather permitting I'll be taking my
nice camera up with me for a spot of photography. We plan to walk down to the end where the fort is, I spent
many an hour playing in that place when I was a nipper. I suspect it won't seem as big as it did when I was a kid.
I hope the wind isn't too mental as it has a habit of being up there, if it is it will feel cold. Fingers crossed for sunshine
and good visibility. My niece will lose her shit when I answer the door of the 'air b&b' she's not expecting to see me
until August which is my next planned family thing that she knows about. For some reason she loves her Uncle Grr,
she text me only last night to say she loves me and misses me. It's nice to feel appreciated occasionally. I have
been flapping a bit this week trying to tidy up the house a bit for my imminent guests, the kids have never been
here before and my sis and mum have only been here long enough for a cuppa. Next on the hit list is the bathroom... ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Sennheiser HD660S headphones.
Although the very moment I clicked on the buy button they anouced the HD660S2, I did not cancel my order as I specifically wanted lower impedance for use with my walkman (could also be used as a USB DAC) and digital piano without external amps. We're talking 150 ohm (S) vs. 300 ohm (S2) and even at 150 ohm the volume must be set far beyond 90% on my walkman for enjoyable music experience. I'm yet to test the headphones on my Roland FP30x digital piano.
Now, these are my first open back headphones after years of using exclusively closed back headphones (mainly from Sony) and I must say, the HD660S gives me a very different music experience, almost like listening to music through a pair of stereo speakers. You're not isolated from your surroundings and everything feels light. The mid-range with treble are both very impressive. Also, the vocals and instruments sound very nice. Acoustic guitars and pianos sound very life like. The bass is there, not too heavy, and I'm yet to hear any sound distortion. My previous headphones experience always involved teeth rattling bass, but as I get older I get tired of overbass-ed music and modern V shaped mixed CDs, but that's one for the rant section of this forum. *The Bass planet album from Dynamix II (electro full of bass) sounds amazing.
TL; DR: New headphones, a very nice listening experience in deed.
EDIT: I've just noticed, open back headphones are very glasses friendly, as you don't break any ''air seal'' by wearing glasses, all the air vents out anyway, unlike on closed back headphones. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500 - '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1 (sold) - '90 Honda CB-1 (sold) - '88 Kawasaki GPz550 (sold)
