It does, but the Chinese ones have usually still to see their first MOT...

Yeah, but if when your cheap shit Chinky bike goes tits up, you just throw it in a skip and buy another Laughing

It was a bit different a few years ago, you could buy a Chinese 125, run it for two or three years then scrap it or sell it as spares or repairs and move onto the next. It gave good value if you wanted a new bike for as little as possible.

They have increased in price to the point where this isn't really viable, and build and longevity are still questionable. I would be very dubious about spending that sort of money on one...

I stand by my little Chinese 125 (Zontes ZT125-U), it's been a daily commuter for two (2020 and 2021) winters now and is due it's first MOT on 23rd November 2023.

It's done really well so far. If it was my only bike and my only means of personal conveyance then I wouldn't be upset.

Then again, if it doesn't pass it's MOT it will just get fucked into the scrappy anyway Laughing

Given the current Trussonomic plan to turn the UK into a poverty riddled sweat shop it's more likely we're going to be building the things rather than buying them.

No mention of the Chinese made CFmoto 800MT.

Uses a detuned 790 Adventure engine, and of course is much heavier than the 790, seems to be picking up popularity in Aus and a few other places.

My almost 25yr old VFR has similar specs (100BHP, 230KG), but I'm willing to bet it slays it in road manners at a minimum.

Had no issue with any of my some "off brand" bikes (Hyosung in particular), but Keeway can fuck right off.

To be honest, it's at the price point of a lot of main/ known brand adventure bikes so I wouldn't bother considering it personally.

A few weeks ago I saw a 'parked-up' New Zontez 125 Scrambler and took a couple of minutes to look over it and the quality of design/finish/assembly greatly impressed me and was light-years ahead of the early Chinese imports. When you consider that BMW 'vertical' twin engines are built in China plus BM's scooter is quite literally a re-badged 'Something-or-other' totally built there, some Kawasakis and reportedly other 'Japanese' models are built/assembled there and elsewhere in the far east, as long as the quality is right does it matter ?. Bikes these days have become akin to refrigerators, are relatively generally, inexpensive to buy, work fine for a few years then when uneconomic to repair are discarded. When I first started riding bikes many decades past Brit stuff was 'it' then Japanese and then for me Italian and now I have a small BMW that's made in India and the quality looks good to me. Would I buy a modern Chinese bike ?....yes I would.

the point isn't where its made but how its made

I know there have been some real shockers out of China but many western firms have invested in China manufacturing and had an effect on quality.
Honda and Yamaha have bikes made in China.

There is still the Skoda effect of course
VW took over Skoda and started making decent cars, basically VWs
with a Skoda badge but the bad rep still stuck.
Any Chinese firm who ups their game will have the previous poor
reputation to overcome especially as there will no doubt be firms continuing to pump out cheap disposable shite which wont help

I rides a scooty now anyway so fuck you bikers, I got class.

I actually rate my Zontes ZT 125 U really highly. It's a very decent little bike especially considering how cheap it was.

You can get a Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 new for £4.5k. I would be buying one if it wasn't for Putin. I hope the old #uck falls off his trike and runs himself over.

What do you think about MBP C1002V?

It seems like a litre chinese cruiser on a reasonable price, around £8k.

I'm afraid the belt drive won't last too long. Confused

Pete, the lads will not like your first post being an advert - expect to spammed marked into oblivion. Wink

However as much as I loathe this genre of bike it looks better than any Harley I've ever seen, ever.
