Remember that ? a sorta punk, anti establishment left leaning rag full of cool bikes.

Was my absolute favourite bike magazine and I have a few stashed in my loft, but imagine my delight when my mate was making space for yet another bike and emptied a metal chest full of pristine bike mags going back to 1976 and gave me issues 1,2,3,4&5 of Awol ! Smile

Happy bunny.

Plus some belting Easy riders from when tits were compulsory.

Getting a picture of your bike in AWOL was a matter of some kudos back then. My old CB125 ratbike managed to sneak into the background of one issue.

Since this is a post-woke forum frequented by (mostly, apols HK) like minded men of a certain age. May I suggest a 'Tits' section where custodians of the fruitier periodicals of the day can scan and post their favourite, errm, bike pictures..

..unless of course it's just me. Shifty

Awol has a fairly active facebook page run by some of the old staff. They even do reruns of the mech every now and then, Im currently wearing an Awol hoodie.

stinkwheel Well I just had my hands up a pigs fanny. Which makes your concerns pale into insignificance.

For some reason I can't remember of those old MCP type magazines I preferred Iron Horse, certainly to Easy Rider.

Didn't he write for Back Street Heroes too at some point? Never had time for any of those rags TBH. The only motorcycle mag that ever struck a chord with me was the UMG.

My top fave mag in my early wannabe-biker days.

* Genghis Wong (my online Nemesis Laughing ) - died recently
* English Don (now dead) - very disappointed I never got round to meeting him IRL, had a bit of a crush on him Laughing
* The Bloke - also (still) an online mate, quite old now but have met him IRL
* Miraculous Mutha Wub (inspirational purposes only ... I am *not* at all like that Laughing )
* Englishman (also a very good online mate, longer than anyone else I've known online - not met him IRL though, probably just as well, I expect Laughing )
