Good afternoon,

I am want to derestrict my 2001 FZS 600 Fazer. It has no restrictions in the intake manifolds but I have found that the carb slides only open a couple of mm instead of all the way. I think this is caused by the very tightly wound spring (5DM-14933-20) which can't compress any further which prevent the slide from moving further. It also has a 115 main jet which is understandable if the bike cannot take as much air in as it should.
I want to order new springs (5DM-14933-00) which I think is the correct stock spring. I also want to order 150 main jets which is also believe is stock.

Am I correct in this thought or is the restriction somewhere else?
Any other people that have experienced the same restriction method?

Thanks,

There might be an RPM limit with the electronic ignition but I don't that specific bike, hopefully someone will chip in...

Normally carbs would be inlet washers or throttle stops, not heard of a carb spring change..

Throttle seems to open fully and there are no washers in the intake. Just the slide that can't open fully and the small main jet. Only thing I can think of is the spring wish can't compress any further.

So, let's get this straight. You have used your finger to push up the slide and it only goes up a few mil?

It can work out cheaper to get a stage 1 dynojet kit. Usually has springs, main jets and needles.

Yes, maybe about 5 mm.

I had a FZS600 with a stage 1 dynojet kit (and 1 piece sports exhaust) and it rode really really nicely, if I was to buy another FZS600 this is the route I'd go down.
