Hi all Smile

I want to buy a road legal 125/250 off road bike, like a wr 125r or crf 250L but i'm not sure i'll be able to fit it past my garden gate. I've took measurements, its 28 inches at its narrowest. Those bikes handlebars are 32 inches in length. Do you think it will fit with a bit of wrangling?

Probably not, bear in mind you would ideally be able to be alongside it.
It might be possible odd times but a right pain if you need to do it every time in and out.

My gate is 34 inches and a 250L just fits with handguard on. I think you would struggle. What you could do is get it on a trolley so that the bike can go in with the bars turned?

I used to get my 929 through mine… You’ll probably be ok.

It wouldn't be a daily use bike, just every 2 weeks or so. I don't mind faffing around that often. I was thinking get 1 side of the handlebars through past the gatepost, with the handlebars at an angle, push the bike a bit through, then same with other side. So walking it through so to speak.

Good idea with the trolley, something to consider. I wouldn't have handguards or mirrors on the handlebars so its as small as possible.

The 929 is 26.8 inches wide and the bikes Tyke is looking at are 32 inches wide. Wink

929? Wouldn't that be smaller handlebars? But yeah i'm hoping it'd be ok. Hate to buy a bike though and it wouldn't fit.

If riding off road you'll want some proper hand guards, protects the levers.

Well, I didn't buy a trail bike. I bought a Ninja 400 and with the help of my brother widened the gate. Just sold the 400 and bought a Ducati Panigale V4 which *just* fits through the gate at its narrowest point. It's an absolute beast, looks the dogs imo and sounds like a "tank" (my mothers words lol). Tbh it scares me a bit but I will become more confident on it.

I can get an MT10 with bar end mirrors through a gate that's 850mm wide or 33 and a half inches. I was surprised
to see it fit easier than the MT09 before it fitted with the exact same mirrors on it. I do have to carefully and slowly
ride it through though.

Thing is though I have the V4 Pani, not 1 of the twins like the 1299. I was led to believe the V4 is easier to ride than the twins? Tbf it isn't too bad, it's just different to my old 400. Heavier, lousy turning circle, slightly lumpy below 30mph, hot, much much noisier, requires finer clutch control at low speeds. Glad I never bought a Panigale twin cylinder bike, I did consider it.

It should be in the sense that the engine will be less lumpy at low revs I suppose. They're both cutting edge sportsbikes with crippling riding positions, ludicrous power outputs and no real nods to practicality though, so it's all relative. Enjoy! Very Happy
