Citation?

My experience is that the vast majority really don't give a shit about it, just the vocal minority who wants to have a hissy fit about anything that rejects their world view.

You missunderstood me, I meanthe people who are bitching because apparently a imaginary creature has been portrayed as black rather than white.

FFS, there's better things to get annoyed about.

The shit punditry that'll be on Match of the Day tomorrow, for starters.

Very Happy

I'm more cynical and think it's about conditioning people, which's why you see so many black people on TV/in advertising vs. their actual population (4% in the UK)

do you seriously believe only 4% of the population are black?

I doubt anyone will notice a drop in quality. Might go up if anything Smile

But with regards to imaginary things - stories, fiction - they're much more powerful than I believe you give them credit. They can be contrived for many reasons: maybe to learn, maybe something to aspire to... changing existing stories is a none too subtle cultural attack.

Subverting well regarded stories (updating for a modern audience) is necessary because the underlying message of the new ideology is too weak to carry an original work. Stories at least have to be plausible to hold interest.

The role of the apathetic is well documented throughout history.

If you have better data I'll look at it. I kinda do even if the census data isn't 100% accurate, as I'm actually surprised by how few black people I've seen in other parts of the country, with Birmingham and I know there's a couple other major cities being exceptions.

Asian's being around 10% (as in double the amount of black people) seems right as well, which's funny cos we don't see twice or anywhere near the same amount of Asians on TV as black people Thinking

But with regards to...

I'm sure you're aware of this but it's a shitlib tactic to say "why does it matter", well it obviously does as otherwise they wouldn't change it.

It's worth remembering these are same people who lose their shit over someone being misgendered, micro-aggressions, and as mentioned earlier when the same thing happens with the roles reversed.

In short: "it's okay when we do it!" You can only push ppl so far though.
