Metalwork not up to the job.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195642823871

When you look at the photos from either side, the seat rails attach to different places on the frame top rails (one seat rail is higher than the other). An attempt was made to reinforce the frame where the seat rails are attached, but as the frame sways and flexes, there will be a lot of stress on the welds holding the seat rails. Would you feel confident enough to ride it?

From what I remember the V50 engine was a bit of a dog. Nothing like the character of the 850+ engines which were lovely.

Just bumped into my father-in-law, apparently the "bike in a box" is a tip off from his postie... from a guy who lives down the road... etc. Rolling Eyes Anyhoo, we shall bear that in mind (if the bike turns out to be real!)

That pile of poo but only £3.93 postage. Tempted to try winning it for a few quid and seeing him try and squirm out of the postage. Laughing

On the subject of a piss poor grasp of basic geometery, mechanical principles, engineering and utter stupdidity

This (yet again) is yer actual overpriced polished turd.
The mono shock mod on what was a twin shock frame is an appallingy poor and potentially dangerous practise.
Classic form over function twattery, no demonstrable improvement in road holding, just done for the look of it.

When Honda went to using monoshock frames on the CX range why didn't they do that mod?
because it's a fuckin stupid bodge no self respecting engineer would do.
Twin shock swinging arms are weak as piss compared to the later mono shock ones which are massively
thicker and heavier in comparison.
Putting all the load and stress on the centre of the original thin swinging arm is insane.

Someone spent( wasted?) a lot of time and money on that bike and ended up compromising the safety and security of the rear suspension and making it not fit for purpose.
Neither Honda or DVSA would seriously sign off on that mod and it also brings into question whether this significant change satisfies the criteria of historic vehicle status.

"THIS IS A PROPER BUILD NOT JUST THROWN TOGETHER"

Yeah, right.

This is Honda's Mono shock swinging arm for the CX/GL

This is a CX500 one typically rusted out as they're so prone to do

These amateur metalworkers are gonna kill someone soon. I don't like the fact that these bikes always seem to be on sale just as they're "finished" or "almost complete". They're not the sort of bikes people ride around. Wonder why that is... It's almost as if the creators themselves had a sense of self-preservation and complete disregard for the life and limb of the poor sod who comes along to buy it.

Had a look at their current selection of bikes. There's not a single mudguard amongst them. Think that tells you everything you need to know. Rolling Eyes

Maybe.. its a 'STI Black Diamond DOT radial (rear)' apparently...

..excellent for Snow and Mud (according to the manufacturer) where most owners ride their Speed Triples.
