Hey guys, haven't been on here for a while but aiming to come back and help where I can.
I have a question this time regarding the ye olde GSX600f, shes a 1989 model (teapot) been tinkering with her electrical vains and running gear for a while now and have finally come to the belly of the beast.....The full tank
The original gal came with a fuel tap that had two outlets. The kind with the classic black nob with Prime, Res and ON. The fueling has two inlets for the carbitooters. One for 1&2 and another for 3&4.
Now the original tap you say.....well...well let's just say it was a little disconflodulated (broken full stop, no return from the grave, completely and utterly butterfunked)
Since then the tank was tossed to the mountain of which the motorcycle gods congregate. ( dwelling and longing for the good old days) forgotten about in until now.
I have a few options in regards to the fuel tap. Get an OEM replacement for around the £50 Mark with two outlets.
The aftermarket variety which which consists of a metal handle with two outlets.
Finally the third and final option which is the same metal handle type. But to spice things up a little, it only has one outlet.
Now looking around I can get the single outlet, next day and cheaper than the double outlet. If i went this route (I'm thinking of splitting the line as close to the tank as possible, to create a 1 into 2 fuel line outlet)
Only problem is would this work.... It makes sense when planning it out in my wonderful mind where little little spanners are flying around causing mayhem....but then I think would the spacing be correct for the mounting bolts, could the flow rate be different.... due the the Suzuki sensi's working their magic on the inside. There must have been a reason for why the original was a two port outlet.
but....me being me likes to ponder on the more complicated ways of life, questioning every move and decision I make. If anyone would like to chime in that would be great.
Many thanks eNtak |

The OEM ones are actually pingel taps which to quote a mate "Flow fuel like an upturned bucket.".
I wouldn't be so much worried by the single vs twin outlet as such because the narrowest point is inside the tap. I'd just question if an aftermarket tap will flow anywhere near as much fuel as the OEM one.
If you can get and afford a pingel fuel tap (ie the OEM one in this case), I'd do that. That would apply to any motorbike. I have one on my bigbore enfield bullet and it'll empty the entire tank in 3 minutes.
£50 is a bargain for a Pingel tap. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

How daring are you? Look, if the single outlet tap does not work, it's not the end of the world. You only need full fuel flow when the engine is producing full power, so your satisfaction with the non-stock fuel tap may be largely dependent on the aggressiveness of your riding style. ____________________ History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of men - BOC |
