Apropo absolutely nothing at all...... Shifty

I was wondering, is it illegal to go when the lights change from red to red/amber? I can't find any info that definitively explains whether it is or not. Anyone know for sure?

Red means stop.

Amber means stop.

Red and amber means stop.

Flashing amber means proceed with caution only if the crossing is clear.

Green means go.

Red and green means the lights are broken.

I don’t know about the legality (although given a blue light I’d nick ‘em all) but I can think of a few local traffic-light junctions where the switching interval is so short that going on amber is likely to get you wiped out by someone doing the same from the other direction. On the bike I’ll filter up to the front-but-one so the first car takes that heat, or shields me. (Pass him moments later Wink .)

Yes, but cops only GAF if you’re speeding so go for it.

“ RED AND AMBER also means ‘Stop’. Do not pass through or start until GREEN shows”

I've always done it if I'm at the front, whether filtering or not. It's a habit. Not sure how/why it started. But personality-wise, looking back, I was never chilled out. Someone must have told me at some point to pin it on amber to be away from the cars.

Some places I have driven abroard they don't have amber, just red and green which can get very dicey if you decide to try your luck crossing when they are changing. Mind you, in a lot of places they seem to be advisory anyway, no one takes that much notice of them. Laughing

Don't be an amber gambler!

It's a bad habit to get into when you might get caught by the occasional traffic camera. Switch to a bicycle then you don't have to worry about any of the colours Laughing

These days it pays not to gun and run the ambers as there's a truck-tonne of meathead spunkbubbles running solid reds that'll be there when you arrive.

Especially on roundabouts local to me. It's a daily occurrence now.

If nothing is still crossing I can't imagine any ramifications.

Remember a psychlist was flatted by a big lorry in That Lahndan years ago. He was pedaling up the left side when the lorry turned left.
I knew not to do that shit by applying common sense rules.

My current site means I have to filter along Norton Folgate. I am surrounded by a sea of cyclists cutting in front, behind and across me on a continual basis. When I have to turn left into Spital Square the only way I can do it is to get into the marked cycle lane just before or one of the wankers will try and pass me on the inside as I turn.
