Nothing to do with Brexit.

It's a new EU rule coming in in January meaning a 10% tarrif will be charged on vehicles assembled in the EU which use less than a certain percentage of parts manufactured inside the EU.

All the EU manufacturers will be charged a 10% tarriff on their EVs too because they aren't sourcing enough of the componant parts in the EU. There is no way they're going to be able to up their battery production in time for the new rules coming in.

I take no pleasure in the sufferings of The German people though I did have to stifle a little smirk when I saw this story:-

Read and weep, Remoaners!

TBF if Germany's going into recession it's self-inflicted idiocy, nothing to do with the EU.

Another Brexit divident coming your way guys brace yourself

It will record the person’s name, type of travel document and biometric data (fingerprints and captured facial images) as well as the date and place of entry and exit, as well as refusals of entry.

Basically I can go through UK border with EU passport fine, but anyone with UK passport will be more or less strip searched. Another great new Brexit freedom Laughing Laughing Laughing

Makes you proud Val, no? How long before EU citizens have to have their fingerprints and DNA logged into the database? There isn’t the same ”Papers please” culture on this side of the channel. Something to do with ze Germans.

I'm confused. Your tone suggests you are deriding the UK and Brexit and yet you present evidence that, in relative terms, there is greater freedom without the EU than within Thinking

You are aware that there is no passport controls within much of the EU? You do know that the control to enter the EU is in Dover?

I feel dirty, supporting Val....

Why would you need passport controls in what is effectively just one big country?

Maybe we should all just go to France in small boats instead, there's bound to be a big pile of them accumulating on this side of the channel

How are all these Africans managing to get through Europe unchecked?

Seems pointless bringing in a system that doesn't stop the actual people it's designed to catch?

One of France’s biggest banks has told clients to move money out of the eurozone and back Britain.

Its analysts recently changed their preferred allocation from the eurozone to the UK, encouraging investors who follow the bank’s advice to shift their money into the largest UK-listed companies.

So the facts from last few years show that immigration is raising despite Brexit?

Quote:

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the 745,000 figure for the year to December 2022

Despite Brexit, stopping the boats, Rwanda and all the other pure crap about migration.

What was the point of Brexit and UK citizens losing their own free movement rights in EU then in exchange of nothing?

What is the gain here Laughing

Fuck off Val. That argument was lost several years ago and there is no point revisiting it.

Your constant 'I told you so' is quite grating and isn't making you any friends.

I'm a remainer by the way, so when I say fuck off, please fuck off.

I went to Italy in October. No visa, just a British passport. No questions, no delays. What’s all the fuss about?

You imply Val wants to make friends? Obviously that's not their primary concern.

In other words a government who have no intention of bringing immigration under control.

Whilst I see now we were slightly hoodwinked into focusing on white immigration (cos less raciss...), at the time of the referendum EU immigration was at its highest level:

https://www.economicshelp.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/eu-non-eu-migration-1000x740.png.webp%20

So the British electorate voted in a way to send our leaders a message. They obviously completely ignored that message (cos democracy...) and gave us this instead:

If you want to Stop the Boats, you need to ask The Special Needs Party (of Scotland) how they managed it with our passenger ferries.

The cunts have been building a new ferry for almost ten years.
Noah would have built Two (by Two) by now.

After Brexit we have just one level of government (The Lords excepted*) and if we don’t like it we can vote the Commons out. EU membership had made UK governance a ‘rubber-stamping’ exercise, allowing most of the current crop of dopes to meet MP candidate requirements. Brexit is a step towards installing a government which does what the voters actually wanted. We’re not there yet but the UK majority has always been pretty fair-minded and tolerant. We’ve allowed Fascist and Communist views to air while never accepting them into the mainstream. Freed from the EU, UK common sense has a chance.

*I have a bit of respect for their limited ability to ask the Commons to review again but I wonder whether they’re becoming too aligned to party politics.

Val, what demonstrably detrimental examples unique to the UK can you assign to Brexit?

I'm not holding my breath any longer waiting for the benefits of freedom from the EU to kick in.

If..... We had proper politicians, that knew what was required and how ro go about it in the EU. We may have been able to avoid the catastrophe of Brexit.

I still find it astonishing that we won two world wars and a world Cup and we are still being punished for civilising 3/4s of the planet when it was controlled by the British Empire.
