Well, I distinctly remember PB magazine doing a very in-depth look at the TL1000S back when they came out and concluding that the best thing you could do if you owned one was fit a 170 section tyre, closely followed by throwing the rotary damper in the bin and fitting a steering damper.
You have to wonder if the overall size of the bikes is also something to do with it and they've fitted extra wide tyres so they don't look out of proportion. Motorbikes seem to have all got a whole lot larger overall. I was out with mates the other weekend, I was on a VFR750, one mate was on a Blackbird, the other was on an oil-boiler GSXR11. In their day, those were all considered big motorcycles yet they looked like titchy sportsbikes when you saw them parked up in a town square full of bikes. Same with 125s, none of them seem to have the same compactness, I wouldn't fancy trying to push one home after running out of petrol. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
