My son has a 2020 4 stroke Yamaha Aerox the battery needed replacing and since it’s been replaced “and before” the check engine light has been on, the bike runs fine, no issues at all.

Is there a way of resetting the light?

fix the fault that triggered the eml mebbe?

It may run better because some faults will allow the bike to run
using ball park settings rather than calculated ones.

the air inlet sensor (IAT) for instance
I fixed this on a Honda scoot recently, it ran but not as well as it usually did according to the owner.
I replaced it, cleared the faults and he was a happy chappy again.

I presume the fault was because the battery was flat and the bike wouldn’t start, now it’s got a new battery it runs absolutely fine.

I’ve tried googling but nothing seams to give any advice, I don’t know how to even find the code? There is just a light on, nothing to say how to get a code by any sequence etc, seams like only Yamaha know how to find anything out??

There's probably an OBD2 socket lurking somewhere. It'll be a squarish 4-pin connector with a rubber stopper in it.
