This seems an odd one.

I'm currently obtaining car insurance quotes, and I need to declare a recent accident where my son (a named driver) got hit by a third party. The third party accepted blame and his insurer coughed up, and my NCD wasn't affected. I do realise this will still affect my own premium though.

The issue is that I apparently now need to declare this accident twice on my proposal forms under 'driver details' - once under my own, since I put the claim in, and again under my son's, since he was driving at the time. The wording appears designed to catch both scenarios. However, that means I've just added two claims to the proposal form which are bound to be treated as different ones! Even in the mad world of insurance, that can't be right, surely? Anyone come across this?

Do it over the phone and let them sort it out.
