My Birkenstock flip flops are finally falling to pieces after about 8 years of owning them. I could probably glue them back
together (again) but I think it's time for something new. As a recent convert to Crocs I thought I'd give their flip flop
variant a try so there's a pair of these on the way. Hopefully their 1 piece construction will be more durable than the old
Birkenstocks which have fallen apart long before they are worn out.

Today, for some reason known only to my inner self, I managed to buy FOUR boxes of 40 sachets of cat food slop. Hence now the proud owner of over 160 sachets of cat food slop.
Fuck knows how.
I usually buy 1 or 2 boxes cos I are got 2 cats, so it pretty much keeps them happy from one payday to the next, depending on who's hungry (or not) and I buy a bag of those cat biscuitty things too cos Lawrence is more partial to those.
But this morning, the Morrisons man staggered out the back of his van lugging four of the bastards - i didn't go "Oh! I never ordered those!" because I suspect I forgot to unclick something in the shopping trolley
Fuck it, won't run out for ages now

If our cats are anything to go by, your cats will scoff them happily for a day or two, then mysteriously “go off” them necessitating the purchase of a different brand and the donation of your remaining packets to another cat owner. A selection of plastic plant pots, dishes, a propagator and a big bag of multi purpose compost. If that's your bag
then get down to Wilko who are discounting everything. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Luckily (I think) there is a little black cat who slinks in silently* in the middle of the night and snarfs any food which is left by my two.
*At first I thought I was imagining things, that some cat-wraith was flitting past me in the hallway, it really *is* that silent.
I think s/he may be my ex-husband's cat which I took in after he died but which "ran away" three weeks later - but it just doesn't quite look exactly like her. Although that was over 3 yrs ago, so mebbe she changed a bit. Plus, his cat was especially spooked, she lived in his bedroom closet for months.
So I dare not chase it away in case it is his cat, and I would feel terribly guilty.
It used to rush off as soon as it heard me approaching the living room but now it's getting a bit bolder/less concerned that I will murder it, and it stays put on the sofa staring at me, until I pretend to turn my back, and it can make its escape.
But its still too spooked to let me pick it up and give it flea treatment or take it to the vets to see if its microchipped or not (although it doesnt scratch itself so maybe someone else owns it and de-fleas it anyway) .
It also creeps in during the day when it thinks I am not there, and crunches its way through the cat biscuits as well. My two just let it stay, no spitting or growling: seems they don't mind.
Live and let live. Two cats, three - who cares. Half the neighbourhood host Lawrence whilst he is out playing Furry Little Bastard King of the Manor in the summer streets until it gets too cold to stay out any more.

I think I bought a laptop on eBay, not sure
No need for fancy spec, its for the Italian shrink's patient files, so its only a refurb with 16 RAM.
Expecting it to turn up just after the bank holiday, as long as it does I will be pleased not to have wasted 180 notes.
I'm starting to mistrust online transactions but have no real reason for not trusting them - just another manifestation of my encroaching "Boomer-mentality" disease. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

A Starlink internet setup.
I've been using an EE 4GEE setup for about 5 years now. When I bought into it and set it up it was blisteringly fast and remained that way pretty much until last year. I've watched (and become increasingly frustrated with) the performance degrade over time with no sign of respite.
The kit arrived today and now I'm waiting for a heavy duty hot dipped galvanised mount kit from another supplier. A bit of drilling and screwing and I should be good to go with even faster connection speeds. It's not cheap but I've come to the conclusion that it's my best long term option.
I may keep the 4G omni antenna to experiment with a passive repeater setup to boost my mobile reception in the house. It should work in theory anyway... |

Croc sandals didn't fit, returned them yesterday. Exactly the same size as my classic crocs so I'm not sure why
they were so tight?? Re-invested the same money on a handlebar mount for my Ghost camera, my bike has a 12v
cigar lighter thingy just underneath the main display (nice little touch Yamaha ) and I reckon I should be
able to get the camera mounted in such a way that it runs directly off the bike so battery life is no longer an issue.
At the moment my old Ghost cam gives me about an hour of footage before it dies, it should also mount so
the speedo isn't in shot. I reckon I might be able to get a mic on/in one of the acoustic grilles for a nice crossplane
soundtrack.

If you can get fibre, of any description, do that instead. |
Now you've put me on the spot I dunno, reliability, latency, speed...
Latency I'd guess is the worst thing? On my VM fibre I get around 10~15ms for UK sites and 20~30ms for all the big ones (Google, Amazon.) I don't really notice slowdowns any more at peak times but I hear this is a thing on Starlink. Finally is it just set up and go or is it something you have to keep fiddling with? ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |
