I have an issue with my 2012 YBR 125 where I turn the key ignition to "on" but the electrics don't start. It started with my turning the key slightly to the left it would work then slightly to the right it wouldn't. Then after a while it wouldn't work unless I pushed the key down and forward and now it won't work at all.

I read somewhere this means I need to replace the whole ignition switch. Is this something simple to do? I'm not very good at mechanic things but if it's simple enough I'll give it a try.

Any help and advice would be great thanks

Typically it will mean taking off the top yoke and drilling out the shear bolts enough that the head comes off so you can remove the switch and then undo the now loose remanants of the bolt.

There's a difference between the ignition barrel for the YBR carb model and for the injection model.

If you get the wrong replacement then you'll have to fiddle with the wires. If you don't want to fiddle then you might have to pay a few more quid to make sure you get the barrel for the injection model. (Though you'll pay a few extra quid and then they send you the carb one anyway so just prepare for the worst and hope for the best when ordering cheap off ebay)

What often happens is that water gets inside the barrel and sits on the connections inside thus corroding it. Then you end up with a dicky ignition like you've got. I usually squirt something like WD40 down there occassionaly to make it last a bit longer.
