Evening all, so i recently re acquired a 2005 kymco Stryker 125. I owned this very bike around 10 years ago, and through chance it ended up back in my hands.

Anyway i am trying to find information on the engine these bikes use. Unfortunately it appears the bike has been through several hands all adding a little bodge job here and there in the last 10 years. the worst part is the exhaust studs. As a result is may need to replace the cylinder head should a helicoil job fail. another issue is the starter motor, i have been having a hard time finding one.

I am not in any rush to get this bike on the road, as it's not nor will be intended for a daily rider I have my KLE500 for that.

Looks like a Honda CG 125 OHV clone to me
Kymco used to make stuff for Honda so it may well have similarities.
I very much doubt the starter is unique to the Kymco as that makes
no sense

That's a clean looking little engine. I like the sight glass on the Kymco clutch cover. Nice touch.

Looks like a CG starter would fit but I wouldn't spend any dosh
until I'd examined the original one as most are quite serviceable
unless the armature windings are burn out or the commutator is FUBAR.
It may just need a strip/clean and new brushes.

The starter motor works fine, the issue is the rear bracket is broken. I may consider getting it welded. thankfully the exhaust studs are not a massive issue. It should be possible to fix that without the need to replace the head. Ill be keeping this thread alive with regular updates on how the project works out.

"another issue is the starter motor, i have been having a hard time finding one"

If i cannot find a complete unit, for this bike, I doubt i will find just the bracket as a standalone. In any case I have reached a dead end on the bracket for the time being so i am going to get it welded. thankfully i have found a website that sells many other parts i need to finish this project off. Very Happy

Can you not wrap a length of your mum's washing lineb around the fan belt pulley and convert it to a Rope Start?

Maybe less phaphery.
