Fucking bastard bike wouldn't start at work today and I have no fucking recovery at the moment because of how rarely I ride it to work.

Hoping I can steal some electricity off someone else tomorrow using my jump leads so I can get it home.

Re. footwear, I bought a pair of Colombia Woodburn shoes 6 months ago and they’ve been excellent; comfortable, waterproof, cleaned up well after some very muddy fields. The round laces did keep coming undone until, after making the first loop, I wrapped the lace clockwise (counter-intuitive, slightly awkward) instead of anti-clockwise before making the second loop. (Hard to explain; try Google.)

I had first looked at Merrells since I practically lived in a pair of them years ago but modern reviews suggested the quality had dropped. I’ve heard the same about Hunters Wellies. New managers who couldn’t leave well alone, I guess.

Bought my nephew a DJI drone for xmas.

Turns out that the new A13 phone he has only has 32bit Android despite being a 64 bit cpu so he can't install the DJI app to fly the drone.

32bit OS in 2023/4!? Jeez. Thanks Samsung.

What sort of backward country did you buy that phone in?

Have you looked at jailbreaking it so it can have 64 bit android on it?

Nice idea but there doesn't seem to be such a thing on the XDA forums, plenty wanting it though.

Dogshit.

Woke up to that sweet, sickly smell of poorly dog. Must have been quick as he didn't ask to go out. A sturdy followed by a cowpat-sized korma and a couple of afterthoughts. Thankfully all on one mat and a hard floor, so not had to search for shitty paw prints. Pooch currently outside in frost looking very sorry for himself...

Before I get slated for the following post, I realise there are one or two on here who collect/are interested in watches. Each to their own.
I got accosted by an 'enthusiast' today at work.
Again, each to thier own, but christ almighty. Brick Wall

I agreed to help out a mate whose shredder had broken, and received a large bag of stuff to put through my (small) cross-cutter.

Not only were half the stuff still in the envelopes and all the accompanying non-confidential bumpf was still in there (i.e., from the council - pages and pages of the same wording only translated into 27 languages) but there were also cardboard medicine boxes (ramipril, etc) with the labels still on as well as the medication inserts (one box was just full of medication inserts) ... and in some cases they'd just chucked whole unopened letters in there. Brick Wall

To add insult to injury, they both smoke like absolute trains, and the paperwork stunk to high heaven. I feel dirty, dusty, ashy: I only washed my hair this morning and now it probably stinks of ashtrays, ugh.

It can be said that I have roundly berated him.

Been driving my mum's car about - MoT, service, new tyres, etc. - dutiful son and all that. It's an automatic and I dunno... feel very disconnected from the driving experience. Dread to think what a "self-driving" Tesla would be like.

Two of the many things that irrationally annoy me about MS windows at work, just because they annoy me multiple times every day on the work computers and are straight up lazy coding. I've been particularly sweary at them today

When I want to change user on a shared PC, I click "log in as a different user" on the lock screen because that's what I want to do and it doesn't take you straight to the login dialogue. It goes back to the lock screen with a picture of a mountain or something which you then have to wiggle the mouse about on and click again to login. Carrying with it the risk that you accidentally click on the bit that pops up a web browser once you logged in showing information on said mountain or something.

When you open a private browser window in edge, the window opens and there is a flashing cursor in the address bar suggesting it is open and ready for you to type something into it. But it isn't. You have to click on it so why show a flashing cursor?

The logon screen on Windows has some sort of fetish for touch screen input which no one usually has. The quickest way I've found to get round slapping the keyboard or waggling the mouse to simulate a touch screen press is to sign on with an external device e.g. fingerprint reader. Though that might not be much help if you're wearing surgical gloves most of the time.

With regards to the Edge input box behaviour I've also seen this happen with Chrome. While the focus of the application would be the input box what's happened is the application itself is not in focus with regards to the operating system. I think this is a Windows 10 thing as my Windows 11 systems don't do this.

Got home today and Dennis the tripod was breathing stertoriously (there really is no other word for that sound). So off to the vets we went in a flying panic.

It occurred to me that I'd heard her cough a couple of times a few days ago and I'd noticed she recently had lost her voice when she miaowed, although she certainly hasn't lost her appetite (!!) The vet says her heart sounds okay but she is pretty wheezy. So she's back in for tests tomorrow Wub chest x-rays, bloods and possibly a BAL.

I wouldnt mind but she's such a stroppy mare usually, so I'd warned the vet she might bite and claw, (I'd even thought about taking my motorbike gloves with me to get her out Laughing ) ... and the little bugger was docile-as. Even sat with her tail curled around her feet at one point despite having had a thermometer up the bum.

Bloody cat! She's such a character.
